Thirteen Broward County Public Schools high schools are among the top public high schools in the nation, according to the annual rankings released this week by U.S. News & World Report, with Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, Pompano Beach High School and McFatter Technical High School in the top 2.5% of all ranked schools in the country. In addition, Atlantic Technical High School and Cypress Bay High School ranked in the top 5%. These five schools are also recognized for being among the top 5% of high schools in Florida, with Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy ranking #2 in the state. Read more at bit.ly/3JDlfE4

The Early College High School agenda is one of many failed Gates-funded reforms that have been scaled across Texas. Texas ISDs and community colleges are enticed by the ability to double-dip funds as an incentive to adopt the model. The proof is in the pudding that it does not work. Students are having to be remediated in college because the model puts the cart before the horse when they should still be learning the important basics in 9-12. https://lnkd.in/gR2nEKP5

Governor Whitmer joined MiLEAP this morning to announce $75 million in Out-of-School Time grants awarded to 177 organizations. The grants will be used to expand learning opportunities for Michigan kids, including mentoring, leadership, physical fitness, visual and performing arts, literacy initiatives, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
