Volkswagen focuses on the North American market for its EV brands Volkswagen Group plans to launch 25 electric vehicle models in North America by 2030. The EV segment is growing, accounting for 8.5% of North American vehicle sales in January. However, the pace of growth is slowing, and more investment in charging infrastructure and government support will be needed. Volkswagen will add more EV models in the United States, including midsize and larger electric SUVs. The company aims to capture 10% of the U.S. market across all its brands by 2030. The Volkswagen group's North American EV lineup will expand in 2026 to include U.S.-made SUVs sold under the revived Scout brand. As more strict restrictions on sourcing from US foreign entities of concern are in effect as of Jan. 1, 2024, only a few battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are eligible for a full or partial tax credit. Although the Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle (EV) and electric utility vehicle (EUV) ended production in December 2023, the remaining in-stock models delivered after Jan. 1, 2024, are still eligible for the full credit of US$7,500. The Ford F-150 Lightning full-size pickup, in both standard and extended range, is eligible for the full US$7,500. Rivian’s R1S and R1T, both dual and quad motor versions, are eligible for a partial credit of US$3,750. From Tesla, certain versions of the Model 3 (Performance), Model X (Long Range), and Model Y (all-wheel drive, Performance and rear-wheel drive) are eligible for the full US$7,500 credit. Each of these is also dependent on the vehicle price; the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) limit for sedans is US$55,000; for a Tesla Model 3 Performance to be eligible, the MSRP of the specific vehicle must be below US$55,000. This is also true of the Chevrolet Bolt, although no versions of that vehicle exceed the price cap. For the F-150 Lightning, R1S and R1T, and Model X and Model Y to be eligible, the specific vehicle must have an MSRP below US$80,000. In terms of plug-in vehicles, the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), Ford Escape PHEV, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, Jeep Wrangler 4xe, and Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring are all eligible for tax credits. Of the PHEVs, only the Pacifica PHEV is eligible for a full US$7,500; the other PHEVs are eligible for only US$3,750 with the same price caps as battery electrics. The tax credits were part of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022; the act was designed to encourage investment into US manufacturing and supply chain sourcing, although sourcing eligibility does include manufacturing and assembly in Canada or Mexico as well as the United States. At the end of 2023, there were about 60 EVs available in the US, according to S&P Global Mobility registration data; excluding trim level differentiation, the new list includes only eight vehicles. About 13% of EVs available in early 2024 in the US are eligible for a tax credit on a purchase. There does remain a leasing credit that can be applied regardless of where a vehicle or its battery components are produced; the leasing credit can be had regardless of vehicle price or an individual’s income, both factors that affect a purchase. There are approximately 40 PHEVs available in the US; with only 6 eligible for at least some credit, which amounts to about 15% of PHEVs available. Regarding appeal, hybrids are less expensive than #EVs, and many drivers are concerned about charging #electriccars. It Turns Out That EU Car Buyers Aren’t as Hot on EVs as Ford Had Hoped: American automakers have grappled with the rollercoaster ups and downs of EV demand domestically, but it appears they’re having an equally difficult time convincing Europeans. Ford recently backed off its goal to convert 100 percent of its sales to electrics on the Old Continent, noting that it would follow buyer demand and produce more hybrids or PHEVs. #car #cars #awesome

Ford's dropping the price on their electric Mustang Mach-E SUV by up to $8,100. They want to boost sales because fewer folks bought them in January. The cheapest one is now under $40,000, and even the fancy version is over $7,000 cheaper! Ford is trying to sell more cars and give customers a good deal. They're doing this because some electric cars don't get a special tax credit anymore, so they're making them more affordable on their own. Adjusting to changes like Ford is what we do here at Cudd Realty. When home prices or interest rates change, we help our North Texas community to adapt, just like Ford's helping drivers switch to electric cars. It's all about giving value to our customers, no matter if it's a car or a house. Want to know more? Check out the complete story.
