It's Mental Health Action Day! We can't just talk about mental health-- we need to *do* something about it. You could: ??Get involved in policy advocacy (you should!), ??Start a program, ??Volunteer, ??Share your story, etc. Part of why Mental Health Action Day resonates with me is what feels like a call to move beyond platitudes. "People are there to support" or "You matter" -- sometimes you cannot find someone to support you or access help or feel connected. While we push for structural change, educate the public, and reimagine a better world, we can each take direct action to make the shareable quotes real for the people around us. If you care about someone, believe in someone, admire someone, or have been deeply impacted by someone, today you can take action to tell them. In addition reposting content, sharing your story, or highlighting ways to get involved, you can be the reason someone actually *knows* they matter.

?? Today, on World Mental Health Day, we recognize the contributions of members of the legal profession, including lawyers, judges, and law professors, who are raising awareness of the importance of talking about and supporting mental health within the legal community.?The contributions of authors, including our founding partner Katherine Cooligan, to the recently released book “The Right Not to Remain Silent: The Truth About Mental Health in the Legal Profession”, along with Erin Durant’s book, “It Burned Me All Down” ensure that this important dialogue continues.?Their work confirms that shared experiences make the journey less lonely and that the stigma that has existed for far too long, needs to end. We must recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health. Whether advocating for a supportive workplace culture, fostering open conversations, or simply checking in on colleagues, we all have a role to play – and it is an important role. We also recognize that significant life-changing events, many of which our own clients experience, create new or intensified struggles with mental health.?We know that no one is immune. Let’s commit to breaking the stigma and creating environments where everyone feels safe to share their needs and seek help. Together, we can build a healthier, more resilient community. For those struggling, remember that you are not alone. Reach out to your community for support! All royalties from "Break The Stigma" are being donated to CAMH. On this World Mental Health Day, Suhani Gupta, Founder and President of the Neuro Health Alliance (NHA), wants to share what NHA means to our community. NHA was born out of a personal understanding of how isolating mental health struggles can be, and our mission is to ensure that no one faces these challenges alone. Our work is grounded in three pillars: Education, empowering people with tools to recognize and address issues like cyberbullying; Advocacy, amplifying voices and sharing personal stories that inspire understanding and connection; and Research, driving progress in early diagnosis and treatment. At NHA, we believe in fostering a world where mental health is treated with compassion and openness, and today, we invite you to join us in making that vision a reality. Together, we can create a community where mental health support is accessible to all. https://lnkd.in/dsYG3JJr #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #NHA #Education #Advocacy #Research #CommunityCare #CyberbullyingPrevention

Mental health parity is important. It would be great if they increased the reimbursement rate for providers and paid providers on a more timely basis so that more mental health providers would financially be able to participate in insurance networks, which would increase access of care.
Today, NAMI celebrates a major step in our decades-long advocacy to achieve true mental health parity. The Biden-Harris Administration finalized new rules around strengthening mental health parity protections, increasing accountability and enforcement mechanisms. NAMI is grateful to the Administration for making mental health parity a priority, and for taking this important step to help people access life-saving care. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4d0B7gj

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as BIPOC Mental Health Month As legal professionals, we are no strangers to the intense pressures and challenges our profession brings. However, it's crucial to recognize that BIPOC communities often face additional mental health challenges due to bias, systemic inequalities and cultural stigma. This month serves as a vital reminder to prioritize mental health, particularly within our diverse legal community. Let's use this time to: Raise Awareness: Understand the unique mental health struggles faced by BIPOC lawyers. Promote Inclusivity: Foster an environment where every voice is heard and supported. Support Each Other: Encourage open conversations about mental health and provide resources for those in need. Advocate for Change: Work towards a more equitable and supportive legal profession for everyone.
