You will be able to find help with regulatory matters and compliance (such as operating a small business), connect with a Small Business Advocate (permitting, licensing, etc) and Commercial Lease Assistance. 2) If you are looking for job candidates for your business, whatever your staffing needs may be, the NYC Department of Small Business Services can help you hire the right employees at no cost to you. Free services include: Sourcing job seekers Recruiting and screening candidates based on your needs Scheduling interviews to help you save time More information can be found here: https://lnkd.in/esdJ6-Bz 3) The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) provides federally funded grants to help NYC-based businesses train and retain their employees through our Customized Training Grant. This grant reimburses up to 60 percent of the total training costs in one or more of the following areas: Learning how to use recently purchased equipment or software Offering new services/products to reach new markets Providing new skills to help current staff advance into hard-to-fill positions Updating outdated skills to help the business be more competitive Businesses must train at least ten employees. However, if your business has fewer than ten employees, you may apply jointly as a consortium. I am fortunate that my family and I call San Diego home. Besides a high quality of life, we have a vibrant economy with solid education, life sciences, and technology sectors. San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation regularly keeps me up to date with local business news and shared the?2024 Business Talent Demand Report (https://lnkd.in/gdMNMGH6) this week. I found their insights fascinating. From the 120 companies who responded and the six leading employers (including Sony, SDGE, Taylor Guitars, Deloitte, COX, and American Lithium Energy), key findings included high turnover, lack of sufficient training or education, and lack of sufficient industry or work experience. Couple that with the fact that "compensation for business talent is 30 percent higher than the national average", and local businesses face incredible challenges to hire, pay, and retain their people. If you are local, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the increasing number of skills and competencies trending in job postings (on page 18 of the report). I hear from my connections weekly who have been laid off and share how tough the job market is. There is a discrepancy between businesses' perception of a lack of appropriately skilled workers on the market and job seekers' perception of available roles.
