Climate change is happening and a plan to do something about it is needed. Accelerated transformation is essential for this generation and for every generation that is yet to come. Our current world is not in equilibritum. We take from it more than we return, whether that is landfill, congested roads, or fossil fuel power production. Where our efforts to decarbonise have initiated, our production is relatively small scale. We must accelerate research and development in every area of power creation, use, and storage. We must innovate to reduce consumption. Wide reaching new relationships will be established between those creating, storing and using finite energy resources. Alternative fuels will need to be found whilst further technology innovation will drive efficiency towards lighter and safer fuel cells. Old technology such as reservoir storage and energy reduction and insulation will help to reduce overall demand as we consciously behave more conservatively. The world we must envisage will only be possible if we change our behaviours to personal expectations of transportation and accept the need to reduce consumption. Yet there is hope in this journey - that the power of ingenuity and resourcefulness to drive and release change can combine with purpose in a human centered approach to achieve our Net Zero obligations. The needs of this story are indeed great. We must all come together with the strengths we have. This really is a shared imperative.
