Here's one of our first field investigators at work.?? In 1929, we began recruiting female college graduates to serve as field investigators for our new market research department. These young women traveled the U.S., going door-to-door to ask consumers what they thought of our products and advertisements. Today, a more diverse, global workforce uses that same spirit of curiosity to develop product innovations, finding inspiration in people — their needs, values and passions — to solve everyday problems. For 100 years, P&G Analytics & Insights has remained at the forefront of understanding consumers, pioneering innovation, and unleashing growth opportunities. Our Head of Services, Rod Nadwie-Smith, recently celebrated his one year anniversary at SDN. When asked how he describes his experience at SDN so far, Rod shared three words – inspiring, motivating and authentic. “The rich history of SDN was one of the factors in my decision to work here. Our history is attached to the values of the organisation, which are embedded in our culture. It is organisations such as SDN that can stand the test of time, that survive.” When looking back over the last year, Rod shares that what he has most enjoyed about working at SDN is our ability to be large enough to have scale, advocacy and reach but still be small enough to feel authentically connected. “SDN is at the sweet spot of size and impact. We can still intimately understand our customers and teams, and yet make a positive difference to the lives of children and families every day.” While Rod continuously balances a demanding schedule, he enjoys the various opportunities he has to physically spend time at our services and see the lived experiences with children every day. At SDN, we have children at the centre of all decision making. This influences the decisions we make in our processes, for our workforce and also in the partnerships we form with external organisations. One of the key initiatives that Rod has implemented at SDN has been our new association with Woolworths at Work. “Partnering with such organisations that are aligned to the work we’re doing, who support our commitment to children’s wellbeing, learning and development and who share the same core values is really important.” Looking ahead, Rod is excited about the opportunities that SDN has to influence the sector and Government reforms. “We at SDN are privileged to have a voice in areas not only limited to Early Learning, but also on inclusion and how we support children at risk.” With the introduction of our new 5 year strategic plan, Rod shares that “it is a great time to be a part of SDN. I’m looking forward to building our contribution both in the sector and for us as an organisation, in creating an equitable world where all children thrive.” #sdnchildrensservices #staffprofile #anniversary

The power of sharing our stories ?? creating community I can’t emphasize enough the impact First-Gen: A Memoir by Alejandra Campoverdi had on me, both personally and professionally. I felt so seen over the weeks I read it, from tears of happiness and hurt that will go unforgotten. As we dive into First-Gen celebrations across the nation this week, I want to take a moment to highlight the power of sharing our stories. Being vulnerable can create a strong sense of community. According to NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, 54% of undergraduate students are first-gen, so creating space for conversations around the experience of being the “firsts,” and often the “onlys,” is incredibly important. Last week, Chapman University hosted Alejandra to speak about her book and discuss the importance of resilience and growth. It was a freindly reminder that none of us are truly alone in navigating new spaces as trailblazers. From releasing guilt to embracing our whole selves, these conversations remind us of our strength and our shared experiences. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book: ? Firsts and Onlys aren't crossing a bridge at all. We are the bridge-painstakingly stretched from where we come from to where we hope to arrive.? ? We can and must hold space for it all. Pain alongside pride. Trauma next to hope. Guilt and success.? ? The parts of me that had been the basis of my imposter syndrome in the past being first-gen, Latina, growing up in challenging circumstances had become the perspectives that were helping me to carry out my job successfully. My differences were now my superpowers.? ? Vulnerability can transform emotional pain into connection.? ?When it comes to borders whether they’re family patterns, social classes, or actual walls-the destination is secondary. The honor lies in the crossing. A special thank you to Athina Cuevas, M.S for creating meaningful spaces and experiences for students at Chapman and, of course, for being a strong campus partner! Here’s to being bold! #firstgen #studentsuccess

Let's talk about having a gap year during your residency. Someone recently asked us for advice on what they should do during their time off before resuming residency, and our response is? “GO FOR IT! That one year could be the most memorable of your life! Do whatever it is that you want to do because you might not get another shot at it for a while. So take the leap and do what lights you up! What would you do with a year off before residency? #resident #residency #medlife #medlifestyle #break #advice #medicaljourney #training #whatdoido #whatdoidonow
