Did you know that the employment of workers aged 65 or older has grown by a staggering 117% in just 20 years? And that's not all – recent research shows that many occupations have become more "age-friendly" since 1990, requiring less strenuous work. As retirement plans evolve and older adults remain healthier and more active than ever before, the world of work is changing. Naborforce is leading the way for older adults in the workforce with their latest initiative: the Golden Interns Program. This paid program is specifically designed for active retirees, offering them the opportunity to re-enter the workforce and contribute their invaluable skills and expertise. This year, they welcomed two incredible Golden Interns – one aged 70 and another aged 81. Naborforce is committed to supporting individuals seeking to return to work after a hiatus, whether due to caregiving responsibilities, personal reasons, or retirement. They join a small yet growing list of companies offering mid- and late-career returnship programs, providing a supportive pathway back into the workforce. Congrats to Paige and her team! We’re proud to back such an important mission. ?? #CTCReadOfTheDay: 65-year-old nurse making impact after late-life career change by Fadia Patterson, Bay News 9 Cynthia Bryant, a 65-year-old nurse, exemplifies the growing trend of older adults embracing new careers. After 30 years in the grocery industry, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of nursing, proving that age is no barrier to pursuing passions and making a meaningful impact. Bryant's journey to nursing wasn't straightforward. She faced personal challenges, including the loss of her husband, but her resilience and determination led her to enroll at Galen College of Nursing and graduate at 65. Her story resonates with a broader trend: older adults are increasingly seeking career changes, often driven by a desire for fulfillment and purpose. A survey by the American Institute for Economic Research found that most older workers successfully transition to new careers, particularly when they can leverage skills from their previous roles. Bryant's message is clear: "If you're still living, do it." She encourages others to pursue their dreams, regardless of age. Her story serves as an inspiring reminder that it's never too late to make a difference and find joy in a new career. ?? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gvhVFDq8 ? What dreams are you still waiting to pursue? Do you believe it's ever too late for a career change? #CTCChicago #CareerTransition #CareerChange #Inspiration #Nursing #NeverTooLate

A huge thank you to Ian Dinwiddy at Inspiring Dads Ltd for taking the time to share his extensive knowledge of the world of new fatherhood in the private sector, and his amazing data base of parental leave policies: https://lnkd.in/dBJNUJKu Interacting with this database, I don't know whether to weep tears of joy at having so much data at my fingertips or cry in despair. Of the 273 companies listed, only *four* offer the pittance of one week (guaranteed) paid paternity leave that new fathers in education get. Only *one* offers as little fully-paid maternity leave as teachers get. These are all professions that compete with education for new graduates and career changers. When great talent are considering a career that will value and look after them as they become parents, why would they choose teaching when they could get 26 (or even 52 weeks!) fully paid, equal parental leave and pay in another profession?

This week, I’m returning to work after six incredible months of paid paternity leave, and I couldn’t be more grateful. As I look at our little one in his honeypot costume, I can’t help but think of honeypots in IT—designed to lure in unsuspecting targets. Well, this tiny honeypot didn’t just catch my attention; he completely captured my heart (and there’s no firewall strong enough to stop it)! I’m incredibly grateful and humbled to work at a company like Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which supports me in putting my family first. This amazing opportunity gave me the priceless time to stay home, bond with our baby, and soak up every precious moment of this special time. I believe benefits like this play a role in creating engaged, loyal teams. While six months of paid leave is a rare benefit here in the U.S., I hope more companies take inspiration and extend similar opportunities for parents. Growing up in Germany, where longer family leave is the norm, I know how vital this time is for building strong family bonds. Thank you, HPE, for prioritizing family and giving me the chance to focus on what matters most. This experience has been life-changing, and the bond I’ve built with my baby will last a lifetime. For those of you who’ve had similar experiences with parental leave - what did (or would) this time mean to you and your family? I’d love to hear your thoughts or stories! ?? #HPE, #WeAreHPE, #PaternityLeave, #WorkLifeBalance, #Parenting, #HPECulture
