These numbers highlight the unique challenges women face—not just in starting and sustaining businesses but in scaling them to attract and retain top talent. These statistics are important because they directly impact the ability of women-owned businesses to provide competitive salaries and create jobs that are in demand. Women entrepreneurs often operate with a high level of empathy, balancing business growth with the needs of their teams and communities. This empathetic leadership can sometimes clash with societal expectations or the “masculine” energy typically associated with demanding resources, recognition, or opportunities. These dynamics can affect how women-owned businesses are perceived and how they navigate adversity. Still, women-owned businesses that survive beyond the critical five-year mark are a testament to incredible strength, resilience, and purpose-driven leadership. While the challenges are valid and often under-discussed, the success of these businesses is all the more extraordinary.
