Sharing Taryn's great synopsis for my L&D colleagues! There are two things that stand out for me in this discussion: 1) L&D has to approach its work from a business perspective. Yes, it's nice to provide learning experiences for all the things, but which of those things brings ROI to the business's bottom line? We need to do a better job training on those skills/knowledge areas that are more visible to company leadership from that perspective. 2) Human skills (my term for soft skills) are becoming increasingly important as tech and AI begin to do some of the tasks that humans used to do. The replacement of those roles by tech is not going to slow down -- just look at the new things ChatGPT can do on an almost daily basis. Thus, we need to upskill humans in human-specific skills.
