One of my favourite moments was hearing from Google's CPO, Jennifer Moceri, who got real about how digital transformation is not just a buzzword but a must-do if you want to stay ahead. Then you had Dr. Athina Kanioura from PepsiCo talking about how big corporations are making serious moves with AI to streamline not just operations but entire ecosystems. Plus, sustainability was a hot topic. The idea of using data analytics to cut carbon emissions in procurement? Total game-changer. ???? ?? AI took centre stage, and it wasn’t just about efficiency—speakers were pushing how AI can actually supercharge decision-making and help navigate this crazy global supply chain world we’re in. Looking back at a very powerful first day of the DPW event in Amsterdam?? Paul Polman kicked things off with a powerful call to action: prioritize long-term sustainability over short-term profits. The message was clear—invest now to avoid costly fixes later. With new legislation on the horizon, compliance is non-negotiable, and technology is our ally in meeting these demands. For procurement leaders, the challenge is to craft a strategy that's not only purpose-driven but also bold enough to inspire and retain the next generation of talent. A well-defined digital roadmap is essential, pinpointing the exact levers that drive value. The age-old question of 'make vs. buy' remains as relevant as ever. Mirthe Wallinga and Nitin Gupta shared the three key components for a successful digital transformation: define your purpose, assemble the right team (mix of procurement and IT expertise) and ensuring they have the right talent to succeed, and thirdly to have the right (clean) data. According to Mike Tsoi, AI is transforming our work, not replacing it. It's about becoming more efficient and effective.
