Ladies day out!!! Our Technical Solutions team spent their day attending Partnership Gwinnett’s annual, Women in Economic Development Day! We set off on a bus tour visiting Rowen Foundation which just completed phase 1 of its 2000 acre project in Gwinnett County in close partnership with economic development professionals and key stakeholders. The goal, in partnership with research institutions and higher education partners, is to build out R&D, clean manufacturing, innovation offices, lab space, sophisticated green houses to take on global challenges. Rowen’s targeted industries are: medicine, agriculture, and environmental. What is currently complete is $32 Million of construction of its 4-lane Rd Rowen Parkway that is in the process of being adopted by the county. ?? The roads are first green road certified infrastructure project in the State of Georgia with a SMART infrastructure system underground giving access to technology. ?? Fun fact we learned from Miriam Dominguez: Rowen means Second harvest. We later visited the 1,000,000 SQ FT Gravel Springs Logistics Center in Buford, MTI Baths in Sugar Hill who make wholesale customized, innovative, made-to-order, bath tubs. Next was a stop at the renowned “Wonka-esque” super impressive chocolate factory, one of its kind - Bitzel's Chocolate in Suwanee, and later closing out the day with a tour of Suwanee Gateway. Our utmost thanks to Deven Cason, her entire team, Gwinnett Chamber, and economic development partners from Jackson EMC, Georgia Power, GDEcD, ADP and many more, who made this day memorable. #womenineconomicdevelopment
