Big changes could be coming to apprenticeships in England, from funding adjustments to shorter, more flexible programmes. ?? Funding Changes – Wider option of programme types? Less apprenticeship starts? ?? Increased Flexibility – Tailored pathways, but will quality suffer? ?? Shorter Programmes – Fast-tracking skills, but is less time enough? There could also be changes to EPA and FS.... At NITE, we’re passionate about creating flexible pathways into teaching, offering both employed and non-employed routes, with three entry points throughout the year. We know that apprenticeships are an incredible way to bring fresh talent into schools, and with over 60% of schools now using the apprenticeship levy to train teachers (Source: Department for Education, 2023), there’s never been a better time to explore this route! ?? Attention Apprenticeship providers ?? The Department for Education’s previously announced changes to funding Apprenticeships will be coming into play this August! These changes include: ?? More flexibility in English and Maths requirements for apprentices with learning difficulties. ??♂? Subcontracted training may now cost up to ￡100,000 of apprenticeship training, rather than ￡30,000. ?? Claiming learning support will be reviewed every three calendar months rather than monthly, reducing the bureaucracy. What are Youth Apprenticeship Programs? Stakeholders involved in Registered Apprenticeship Programs - employers, educators and professionals - across the country are launching apprenticeship programs to serve youth, ages 16–24. Youth apprenticeships feature the same basic elements as?apprenticeships, including paid work-based learning activities and classroom instruction related to the apprentice’s workplace responsibilities. However, they generally require lower daily time commitments to accommodate the schedules of high school students. These programs provide opportunities for youth who are preparing for postsecondary work and learning journeys to gain experience and build skills in real work environments. Our classes are NCCER accredited which means there is classroom and hands-on training with the equipment. Our apprentices and yours learn by doing, as much as classroom teaching. When you're ready to put that next bid in, make sure you have an apprenticeship program that meets these standards! You need a program that is supported by the NYSDOL and the NCCER.
