What have you found most challenging about your entrepreneurship journey??? For me, so far anyways, it's been all about time. I have a full time W2. Two part time consulting gigs. And I'm the president of a small local nonprofit. Finding time to build a business in addition is tough, but when you're passionate about something, you make it happen. Nights and weekends have provided that time while still, somehow, allowing me to take care of my body/mind, family, and important friendships. It's not easy, but I'm really thankful for having the opportunity and for everything that I'm learning along the way! Would love to hear your stories as well! A Lesson from the Great Wall In 2018, I shared this photo and quote with my team during our annual Town Hall Meeting, but I think I never shared it with my daughter, who was just a little girl then. Time to Fly Solo: Embracing Entrepreneurship After years of dedicated work in the non-profit sector, I was fortunate to find a mentor who embodied wisdom, talent, and success in the world of entrepreneurship. Learning from someone I admired greatly was an incredible experience that helped me transition into the for-profit world, a journey full of new challenges and growth opportunities. When my mentor decided to retire, it was a bittersweet moment. Yet, in that moment, I felt a newfound freedom to soar. My heart was filled with motivation and confidence, propelling me to step out of the nest and grow my own business. Here's what I've learned along the way: Believe in Your Path and Passion: Embrace your journey with conviction. You must walk your path, trusting in your passion and purpose without relying on someone to hold your hand. Mistakes are Wins in Disguise: Adopt a mindset that sees mistakes as opportunities for growth. Each misstep is a valuable lesson that brings you closer to success. Stay in Your Lane: Focus on your goals and values, even when it's uncomfortable. Avoid getting distracted by others' opinions and stay true to your vision. As I continue to learn and apply new business techniques, I've witnessed remarkable growth in my business and, more importantly, in my confidence as a leader. To anyone standing at the edge of a new venture, ready to spread your wings and fly solo, remember: The sky is not the limit. We aren’t too big or too powerful to skip the rules. But we can all find a way to keep moving forward. What does that have to do with polar bears? Polar bears spread their legs to distribute weight to avoid breaking through the thin ice. Most may guess they do what they want based on their size, their carnivorous ways, and their mystique. A simple observation about entrepreneurship: We need each other to make progress and advance. We can go so much further with a supportive cast and an aligned community.
