Here’s a powerful example of how research can shift the cybersecurity landscape: ?? Before our analysis on the ShadowPad implant, only 4 vendors flagged this threat as malicious on VirusTotal (see left image). ? Just 3 days after releasing our article, 21 security vendors recognized this malicious file (right image). The list of vendors is shown below, each playing a critical role in strengthening detection capabilities. This response demonstrates how swift information sharing and research from real incidents drive critical defensive progress. The collaboration between the cybersecurity community and industry vendors is essential to staying a step ahead of sophisticated APTs like APT41.
