Truth and trust is power! If you follow my posts you’ll know WeMindTheGap are currently undertaking a Big Conversation with 18-21yr olds in Flintshire. We are sharing early insights to build trust with people who can make a difference to the outcomes of this essential work and trust is built through truth, honesty and kindness. Young people are sharing their hopes, dreams and challenges, we will share those with anyone who will listen, but most importantly, those that will act, do something to affect positive change. It’s easy to make assumptions when you don’t know the truth, the truth, whether you call it lived experience or stories (typical job speak that we sometimes have to use) the truth counts. I’m grateful to everyone who is helping us find young people, it’s not easy, but WeMindTheGap do what’s right and not what’s easy. Something I’m proud of. If you know a young person, or a person who knows a young person 18-21yrs in Flintshire, please share our work with them and the difference they can have for the future generations of young people.
Thank you Hannah Blythyn MS for raising to First Minister Eluned Morgan the important work and Big Conversation we are currently undertaking in partnership with Prifysgol Wrecsam Cenhadaeth Ddinesig / Wrexham University Civic Mission to speak to 18-21yr olds in Flintshire, asking two questions:- ‘What’s life like for young people living in Flintshire’? ‘How can it be better’? Thank you also for saying hello to us whilst we were working at Mold Market last Saturday, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting local people and hearing their stories and ideas. Our Flintshire Community Maker, Laura Columbine recently attended Hannah Blythyn MS's Public Transport Forum at Flint Town Hall where she shared the lived experiences of many of our young people who face challenges daily when using public transport across Flintshire. This is an emerging theme in our conversations with young people Supported by Flintshire County Council and funded by #UKSPF, this work will not only inform how we can change an adapt our employability programmes, but we’ve also committed to sharing the results with anyone that wants to support our #futuregenerations #communities and build #economicprosperity for #flintshire and #northwales Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government

LET'S GET IT DONE ? I'm fighting for much needed improvements for CHURCHLANDS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. So is Libby Mettam. ??A modern, refreshed, more accessible entry with improved pathways, signage, lighting and landscaping. The right entry statement for a school so important to our local are, and held in such high regard... ??A specialty student wellbeing hub for chaplaincy services. The service is currently operated out of a rundown demountable classroom. Building a customised space will enable this high quality, in-demand school service to be delivered to an even higher level. Students should feel proud and empowered when they walk into the school grounds and valued support staff should be equipped with the right tools to support them. Already hundreds of people have signed the petition, if you want help make these improvements happen, add your support via this link: https://lnkd.in/gZ4DbkxK and Like ?? & leave a comment ?? and let's get it done ? “MPS School Board Recall Collaborative to Host Press Conference and Community Meeting at Gordon Park on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 4:30 PM The MPS School Board Recall Collaborative is excited to announce a press conference on Wednesday, July 24th, at 4:30 PM, at Gordon Park, followed by a community meeting. We are also thrilled to share that we have collected 37,000 signatures and counting in our recall efforts. We welcome more volunteers and paid canvassers to join our historic efforts and help us meet our goal of 60,000 signatures. EVENT DETAILS: - Press Conference: Wednesday, July 24th, at 4:30 PM - Location: Gordon Park, near the playground and splash pad - Community Meeting: Immediately following the press conference “With the announcement of the new Interim Superintendent of MPS, we continue to feel deceived and bamboozled by the blatant disregard shown by the current board of elected public officials. We will not stop until our message of collective, community-led change is both seen and felt. While the MPS Board of Directors calls for more parent and community involvement, they continue to show this community (time and time again) that they discourage and reject our presence and support by consistently rejecting our voices, isolating our people and communities, and robbing the City of Milwaukee blindly. Enough is enough. This movement is led by the same taxpayers who supported the $252 million referendum that promised better outcomes and achievement for our children and schools but delivered empty promises, deception, and the unveiling of deeply rooted corruption. We will not stop until we show people that we can create the changes that these leaders have failed to deliver.” Please make a donation of any amount on our website at https://mpsrecalls2024.com and sign up to be a volunteer or paid canvasser. This is the first time in Milwaukee's history that there will be a successful recall effort, and we are excited to be leading this charge, organizing and mobilizing the people, and creating the changes that our children, families, and communities need and deserve. Sign a petition and invite others to do so at one of our petition hubs located at Walmart (both, East Capitol Drive and Brown Deer Rd), Midtown Pick N Save, and the DMV on Chase Avenue, starting on Thursday, July 25th, from 12-4:00 PM daily. Please come to sign a petition and invite others to do the same. We also encourage everyone to join us in demanding public testimony at Thursday’s Regular Board Meeting located at 5225 West Vliet Street, and demand answers on how the Interim Superintendent was chosen without any community input. Milwaukee, now is the time to step up and stand on business. That is the only way we will start to see change in our city!
