Earlier today, East Coast Bariatrics' Amelia Groman, MS, RDN, LDN, CNSC, Bariatric Nutritionist, and Nathan Wharton, LMHC, Bariatric Counselor, had the pleasure of hosting a lunch and learn session at Daytona State College. Emmy and Nathan dove deep into "Creating SMART Goals" for staff, sharing insights on how to craft goals that are not just dreams, but achievable milestones. Remember, a SMART goal stands for: ? Specific ? Measurable ? Achievable ? Relevant ? Time-Bound Adopting this approach can significantly enhance clarity and realistic planning, making it so much easier to stay on track and achieve those goals. eastcoastbariatrics.com

With so many chronic conditions (and related health-care costs) tied to obesity, it’s no wonder that employers want a long-term solution for weight loss. When looking at a potential obesity-care program, make sure it has these three things for sustainable results: 1. Skill building: A good program has both intrinsic and extensive motivators to build long-lasting healthy habits.?? 3. Adaptive curriculum/support: Does the program change based on the participant’s needs, such as weight maintenance?? 3. Long-term results: Can you expect the weight loss to last years later? Ask for peer-reviewed data to back it up.?? 4. Quick-fix solutions might be tempting, but they won’t deliver long-term clinical results and can ultimately drive-up health-care costs. The above factors can be a starting point to see if a weight-loss solution will be the right fit for the health of your people, and your organization. #obesity #employeewellness #wondrhealth
Losing weight is one thing but keeping it off is something else entirely. As our Chief Medical Officer, Tim Church, MD, MPH, PhD says, “The skills for losing weight are different from those to keep it off.” Roughly 80% of people gain back the weight they worked so hard to lose. Luckily, our Wondr program has science-backed methods to help our participants build life-long skills for long lasting health.?

The newspaper industry can learn something from Wayne Dysinger, MD, MPH. How so? "???????????????? ?????????? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????????? ?????? ???????????? ?????????????? ????????????????, ?????? ?????? ?????????????? ???????????????????? ???????????? ???? ?????? ???? ???? ?????????? ???????????????? ?????? ????????????????." We do the same thing in the news business, we focus on immediate maladies: postage increases, labor costs, programmatic advertising, etc.. We do this instead of celebrating what we do best, keeping the public informed. I would bet if we were to focus more on the positive aspects of the fourth estate and how we can help grow a community, through shared knowledge, both readers and advertisers would see the merit. I might add, Dr. Dysinger is my physician and I live near the City of Loma Linda, a blue zone. #newspapers #publishing #education
Today Healthly and Blue Zones announced their partnership and officially launched Blue Zones Health. There is great alignment between the work Blue Zones is doing in our communities and through their research of the longest-living people, and the effectiveness of lifestyle medicine through American College of Lifestyle Medicine certification. Since my time at Loma Linda University Medical Center, I?have been passionate about the science behind longevity, and made it my professional mission to take a lifestyle-first approach to the way I practice medicine. With Blue Zones Health, I look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in healthcare and help more physicians be able to do the same in their practice.
