Reach out respectfully: When reaching out to casting directors, do so with genuine interest and professionalism. A friendly hello or a note of appreciation can go a long way! 4. ?? Mix it up: Attend industry mixers and events where casting directors are present. Strike up conversations naturally and make meaningful connections. “How do I stay connected and front of mind after connecting with Casting Directors and other industry folks?”??? My cherished colleague, Kristin Paiva , casting director and animation coach shares in the post below ?? 4 tips that are part of how she’d answer this question. I agree wholeheartedly with all four suggestions and, personally, I actively do all four. All four suggestions work and, in my case, have borne fruit in the manifestation of supportive and nurturing relationships - many of which have resulted in auditions as well as in booked work. I would add to Kristin’s post the following thoughts that orbit her ideas: - maintain a “long-game” mentality to your voiceover career and business. Rarely is success overnight. The phrase “it’s a marathon not a sprint race” is bandied about a lot for a reason. - operate from an attitude of gratitude at all times. (Heath A. Martin discusses this frequently and is a huge part of his industry growth.) - unless you’re fabulously wealthy (and if you are, I’m happy for ya) - assiduously set aside moolah to reinvest in your career and for things like conferences which Kristin mentioned. - people like to work with likable people they like. Be likable and be about the relationship not what you can get from the relationship.
