This week is #learningdisabilityweek2024 and the theme today is 'Do you see me?'?? This week is all about being seen, heard and valued and challenging the barriers that those with learning difficulties face on a daily basis. We want to celebrate the things people with a learning disability bring to society, and additionally provide them with the same opportunities to be able to face adversity and succeed now, and in later life ?? We have some great opportunities for those of you that possess experience working with SEN/ALN students and are dedicated to truly making a difference. The Able Trust High School High Tech (HSHT) program offers participants a wealth of opportunities such as exploring local post-secondary options, receiving assistance with FAFSA, getting behind-the-scenes tours of businesses, and spending dedicated time building relationships with peers. These are invaluable aspects that contribute to HSHT’s success over the past 30 years. ? However, in my experience, the most transformative aspect is the significant boost in HSHT participants' self-confidence. By connecting with peers who have faced similar challenges and sharing their experiences, students realize they are not alone. They begin to understand they can succeed in college, that they are equipped with the skills needed to move out on their own, and that their goals are entirely within reach. ? This shift in perspective is life-changing not only for the students but also for their families, who deeply want their children to see themselves the way they do—with strength and potential. It truly takes a collaborative effort to raise resilient, independent and capable adults, and through High School High Tech, families find that support. #FloridaHSHT #HSHT30

This statistic highlights the importance of creating inclusive opportunities that extend beyond the workplace. At It’s Education, our apprenticeship programs are designed to empower individuals with learning disabilities, fostering confidence, independence, and community involvement.
