The Art of Finding an Affordable Venue There are plenty of options in Central London when it comes to finding a venue, especially if you are prepared to throw lots of money at the problem. On behalf of some of our clients, we are asked to be economical on the venue and that may not least, be in order to spare more budget for the wines we would like to serve. I am certain that there are occasions when, if the wines are tempting enough, then using your own office boardroom is a very sensible option. No corkage or service charge makes a huge difference to the cost of an evening. Just mention Puligny Montrachet and guests will queue up. If however your boardroom feels a bit off the beaten track and to add to the sense of occasion, clients are more likely to be happy on neutral territory, then that is where we try to help. One such venue is a particularly tranquil oasis which is the Boardroom at Davy’s St James’s. Entirely isolated from the atmospheric and bustling wine bar, behind closed doors on the ground floor and with windows onto the pedestrian Crown Passage, therefore no traffic noises either, this room is a hidden gem in the heart of St James’s. Seated at the rather distinguished mahogany table, the room works best with 12 to 16 guests and if you prefer a standing event, probably 30 is the most comfortable number. Your suggestions are needed ? ?? A few people have recently reached out to me for some suggestions around London, so I pulled together a quick list to share. Skipping the usual sightseeing spots like the London Eye and Westminster, here are a few of my top picks. I’d love to hear what other suggestions are out there to keep this list growing! If I were to pick the perfect spot to stay in London, it would definitely be around Bank Station. It’s right in the heart of everything, making it super easy to get anywhere you want in just minutes! Places to Visit: The Ned: Probably one of my favorite places in London. Leadenhall Market or Broadgate Circle: Get yourself here on a Thursday/Friday at 4/5pm to see all the full kit bankers Aqua Kyoto: Just outside Oxford Street, this rooftop spot has a DJ and three restaurants. My favorite is Aqua Nueva, but Aqua Kyoto’s roof terrace is perfect for drinks. Sushi Samba: This rooftop bar offers amazing views of London and a terrace that’s a must-see. The glass lift ride is both thrilling and a bit terrifying but mostly terrifying!? Flesh & Buns: Great spot for incredible Japanese food Brick Lane: Full of character and vibrant energy. Spitalfields Market: Perfect for a leisurely stroll and some unique finds. Founders Arms: A lovely riverside gem. Megan’s: The best breakfast spot for Shakshuka Maddison’s: Overlooks St. Paul’s Cathedral – the view is amazing. Swingers: Think posh crazy golf right next to the Gherkin. Gordon’s Wine Bar: London’s oldest wine bar, and they’ve kept it original with a cave-like feel.
