I won the 2024 MBA Distinguished Educator Award for junior faculty! I pour my passion, excitement and obsession into my classroom. The most important audience of all, my students, they see me & value me. Thank you MBA Class of ‘24. (1 years: Did we have a good time or what?) I graduated in 2006 and went into management consulting (4 years). ??cool travel, smart people ??too much travel and transience Not quite right. So, I wrote a business plan and started a natural food company (2 years). ??brand building ??thinking about every function Not quite right. So, went to get my MBA and became a brand marketer (7 years). ??cool, creative work, brilliant people ??corporate made me feel stifled Not quite right. AGAIN. I thought something was wrong with me.? That I couldn’t find happiness at work.? That happy & work don’t go together. BUT 4th time is a charm. 3 years ago, I joined Emory University - Goizueta Business School as marketing faculty. I found my Ikigai. The intersection of: What you love What you are good at (See award!!!)? What you can be paid for I got here because I gave myself permission to keep trying careers (with support from Chris Cooley). If this is something you have, CONGRATS.? If this is something you want, GET IT.

Officially MBA’d ? After selecting the right MBA provider to gain meaningful wisdom, connections, and hands-on experience, I committed to two intense years balancing work, life, and dedicating 2-3 weekends each month to my studies. Now, I’m thrilled to hold my Executive MBA! But honestly, the true value wasn’t in the certificate itself—it was in the transformative insights I gained and the remarkable people I met along the way. ? This journey was anything but easy. It demanded patience, resilience, and more caffeine than I’d like to admit. Yet, each challenge became a stepping stone, offering new perspectives and friendships that made every effort worthwhile. When is the right time to attend business school? At Stern, there is no minimum or maximum age requirement to enroll in the MBA. We believe that folks of all ages can use the MBA to grow personally and professionally, and encourage applicants to examine their motivations for business school and ensure that they have clear goals for the outcome of their degree. The quality of your work experience and how you convey this matters more than years worked.
