Now more than ever, our world is grappling with the devastating consequences of war, which not only claims lives but also undermines the very essence of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Beyond its toll on human lives, war exacerbates environmental degradation, intensifies the challenges of climate change, and disrupts economic stability, affecting communities worldwide. Moreover, it erodes the pillars of justice and equality that uphold our societies. In the face of these pressing issues, it is imperative that we do not waver in our commitment to peace. Instead, we must redouble our efforts to amplify the message of peace and collective action. 21st September, On today's International Day of Peace, we at The Decide Today as an organization join the world to mark this year's celebration, which was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly and observed annually on this day been 21st of September. Hence, as we commemorate this year's 2024 occasion with the theme as: "CULTIVATING A CULTURE OF PEACE" we remind ourselves that peace is the work of ev'ry human and we should embrace it wholeheartedly as own duty and see it as a way of life. We should see Peace as our culture as people irrespective of race, background or any differences for where there is no peace there will be no progress and this transcend to down either to us locally, regionally and globally To us an organization our message is simple we shall continue to ensure the sustainability of Peace via our programmes, that peace is made to have it way via our channel of operations - dialogue and many more ways as resolution to issues involving relevant stakeholders that are involved to shift their sword or grievances at issues of offence or conflict that bridge either any of the party involve in her morals, believes or culture that arises and embracing each other as human for that is what truly we are and their is no gain to war or fighting if we want our world to be better than we met it. 79th session of the IN General Assembly posted by the Secretary General Mr. Antonio Guterres. It is great to get together for a noble cause. yo improve the world, but It is the 79th since the creation of the UN. the present shape of the world is worst that when the 1st one was. This means that it has passed 79 years, by the next year, will be 80, resting 20 years more to reach a century. What has been done for more than half a century. what has changed. what has improved? The Assembly in itself is a whole apparatus and the ?? meeting of the UN. It costs much, and all the delegations have a costs to pay to be able to be there. Does the costs and logistics are worth it?, in the sense that what is achieved concretely, no mere intentions, or declarations, makes it worth it, and surpasses the costs, financially? (cost of assembly for 2024, 3.59 billions, without counting the cost of each delegation) The UN is not a governing global body, it is a guider,counselor, adviser, suggester, and potential intermediate when it is recognize as one. Will this 79th session change the world? NO. Hopefully that it will be possible, but interests, lobbying, influences, powers, etc are in the mixed, and what really will make a difference will be, the real WISH TO CHANGE and To PUT THE WILL. The Secretary General can do what is possible. but he cannot enforce. It is a gigantic and very burdensome, to be in a such a position, it can generate a great concern, distress, etc. Let's see what this Assembly will not only determine, but put to practice.
