??National Self-Care Week: how to implement self-care in the lead-up to surgery?? Practising self-care is always important for our overall health and wellbeing, but it becomes especially crucial in the lead-up to surgery, as it can promote better health, reduce stress, and improve surgical outcomes. At Surgery Hero we take pride in empowering our members to build their self-care habits, ensuring they are in the best possible health when their surgery day arrives. As part of National Self-Care Week, we wanted to share some self-care tips to help you prepare for surgery and enhance your recovery: ?? Eat a healthy balanced diet: this will fuel your body with essential nutrients needed for healing, immune support, and strength. Focus on a variety of food groups: lean proteins, a colourful range of fruits and vegetables, high-fibre starchy carbs, and don't forget to stay well-hydrated! ??♀? Engage in joyful movement: move your body in a way that makes you feel good and brings enjoyment. It might be dancing around the kitchen to your favourite song, walking in nature with friends, or attending your favourite yoga class. Joyful movement boosts mental wellbeing, encourages consistent engagement, and reduces stress. ?? Get a good night's rest: sleep is important before surgery, as it supports you both physically and mentally before an operation. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day and avoid screen time at least an hour before bed. ??♀? Manage Stress: waiting for an operation can be a stressful time. Practising relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation will help you reduce stress. ?? Set realistic goals: Setting small, achievable goals before surgery is a great way to feel prepared and support a smoother recovery. Select a goal that fits your wellbeing needs, and gradually build it into your routine. Surgery Hero’s approach includes personalised 1:1 health coaching sessions before and after surgery, offering members the chance to build and sustain self-care habits throughout their surgical journey and beyond. Hey guys ?? my name is Anastasiya- I’m a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner and specialize in Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) for men. You might have heard about TRT from gym bros or that it’s used only to increase sexual function. Yes, TRT does significantly improve both aspects, but testosterone replacement therapy benefits go far beyond sexual performance and gym gains. Improved heart health, weight loss, increased bone strength, improved motivation, mood regulation, mental clarity, reduced inflammation and so much more. Or maybe you’ve asked your primary care provider about TRT to be told you are “within normal range” and brushed off. But testosterone therapy is based off so much more than a single lab value, how you feel is a major component to treatment. Who would suspect that they may have a testosterone deficiency? That would be any man older than 40 years old, or men younger than 40 that experiance any of the following: ? decreased libido or sexual function ? weight gain especially around the stomach area ? feeling worn out after the gym and taking several days to recover ? feeling irritated and grumpy with life in general ? lack of motivation to improve at work ? feeling tired and plopping on the couch after dinner (These are general indicators and are not meant to diagnose) Give yourself a chance and see how your health and wellness can improve when you are at optimal vs running on an empty tank. “The best investment you can make is in yourself “ - Warren Buffet More info @ https://lnkd.in/e5ha9mzJ

As pelvic health clinicians, when working with postpartum patients in pain, it's crucial to address both the musculoskeletal system and key lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep, stress, and an often upregulated nervous system. If your patients aren’t eating nutrient-dense foods because they’re too busy, exhausted, or focused on losing weight, and if they’re sleep-deprived—constantly running on empty—their bodies are likely in a cortisol-driven survival mode. This combination of poor nutrition and lack of rest creates an environment that’s far from ideal for healing. We can’t just focus on the physical pain. To truly support their recovery, we need to help them manage stress, improve their sleep quality, and nourish their bodies for optimal healing. These are the essential concepts we explore in depth inside Pelvic Health Explorers, providing the tools you need to guide your postpartum patients toward complete recovery. Don't miss out!
