Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.Nursing Process: Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care that reflects assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of that plan. Ensures plan shows multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education. Ensures plan is reflective of admission or outpatient database, on-going findings, age appropriate care, cultural specific needs, and appropriate acuity. Ensures plan is discussed with patient, family/significant others, and completed in a timely manner. Monitors the patients progress based on the plan. As some of you may know, I work in the emergency department, where greeting and checking in patients are integral parts of my responsibilities. I rotate between stations like the front desk, pediatrics, and EMS. Despite the standardized check-in process, each person I register at the emergency department brings a unique and valuable experience.This morning, I encountered an unexpected situation during my shift at the EMS station. While checking in a patient brought in by ambulance, I observed a patient having a seizure being attended to by nurses and rushing by me. Uncertain of whether the patient needed to be checked in, I followed the medical team to gather patient demographics and discovered that the individual was from the waiting room.Suddenly, the communication nurse pulled out what appeared to be a pistol, urgently saying, "Someone take this!" With the attention now on me, I carefully assumed control of the object, handling it cautiously. In an effort to avoid causing panic, I discreetly walked back to my station, keeping the item aimed at the floor, and promptly contacted public safety officers.When public safety arrived, they identified the object as being a fake pistol and a lighter.?Upon reflecting on this experience, I've come to realize the paramount importance of maintaining composure in the face of uncertainty and swiftly taking cautious action. Professionally managing the situation and involving public safety not only showcased my dedication to everyone's safety in the emergency department but also underscored the vital need for vigilance and proactive responses in such an unpredictable environment.I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work in an environment that challenges me in ways that consistently inspire personal and professional growth.

OPINIONS WANTED This is a random scenario. Freakily similar to real life scenarios that happen frequently in recruiting. Here we go: Client: Company A Company A is looking for an RN. Company A is a pediatric clinic. RN must be experienced in nursing, have a good personality, and have at least 3 years of pediatric experience. Candidate A: RN for 20 years Great personality Grandmother - loves kids Worked in hospital so interactions with pediatrics but not solely pediatrics Candidate turned down after one interview. Reason? Not enough pediatric experience. My Opinion: Personally I would have said that an RN with 20 years can adapt. Its a grandmother - she knows the deal. Ridiculous? Or is it just me? Please...
