Recognizing the potential, Fred purchased the lemonade mix at an advantageous price, a move likened to winning the lottery. ?? Facing the challenge of repackaging the lemonade mix for the feed industry, Fred enlisted the expertise of Dave Oatman. Together, they capitalized on the sweetness of molasses in animal feed, selling the entire lot of lemonade mix to a molasses entrepreneur. The Country Time Lemonade incident not only turned a mistake into a significant opportunity for The International Companies, IFPC's parent company, but also showcased the company's penchant for ingenuity and calculated risk-taking. ?? Founded to bring international food and culture to the North Nashville community, this international grocery store stocks a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grab-and-go meals, baked goods, and packaged foods from local and international suppliers. The fresh fare caters to North Nashvillians and commuters who frequent the downtown area for work. Martha participated in the Smart Growth Digital Lab Initiative as part of NBIC’s Groundwork accelerator program. Through the lab, funded by a $150,000 grant awarded by The Frist Foundation, Martha learned how to create a website and establish social media profiles for her business. She stated: “Working with the NBIC opened my eyes to so many things you don’t always think about as a business owner. I learned how to create an employee handbook and build my own website to target new audiences. He came our way having been a director/ board chair for over 15 years at one of my favorite BC organizations - BC Food & Beverage ?? This is but one of his many impressive accomplishments in the industry!! ?? It’s been a game changer having someone be able to validate and provide perspective on the incredible amount of knowledge myself and Clinton Bishop have needed to learn!! ?? I know he has been especially valuable for Clinton as we work towards getting our very own first upcycling facility off the ground ?????? So much gratitude for all Dave brings to the table here at Susgrainable ???? Now for the fun part: ??Fun Fact - Dave loves to road cycle and has always been a fan of a high fibre + high protein diet as it helps his performance on his rides. ??♂? ??Favourite Susgrainable product: by far the chocolate chip - there’s no better colour and flavour than chocolate. I started my food truck journey with ZERO experience in the industry, investing my entire life savings of $7000 at 20 years old. I remember during our first day, we couldn't even figure out how to turn on the grill, forgot to order propane, and even lost our keys, forcing us to hotwire our truck before even serving our first customer. Despite the rocky start, we managed to pull through. Just one month later, we took a leap of faith and joined the OC Foodie Fest, the biggest food truck festival in OC/LA. Incredibly, we won first place, setting off a whirlwind of success for our business. Our victory caught the attention of The Food Network, and we were invited to compete in The Great Food Truck Race Season 2. And we won! ??
