FGFA back into consideration? I've read some articles recently that indicate that it's back into consideration. Last i remembered,the Russians were asking alot of money and had many short comings in their promises.Do you think this will happen again? Or instead of funding it's development(since it has been completed) are we just going to buy few of them? Even if we pass all the funding for AMCA,it won't be in production until at least 2035. And how many units do you guys think we'll get? A small batch of 36-40 aircrafts or we'll drop MRFA and buy 114 of these. I wouldn't take anything serious until it's under advanced stage of procurement News channels standards have fallen alot so they like to report things even if no statement has been made on it. While there are reports that the US tried to sell the F-35 to India & brought it to India a couple of times and included it in the Aero India airshow, the IAF flat out declined to consider the jet since strategic autonomy will be under question as well as management of extremely complicated inventory, spares, missiles, tech know how etc all becomes difficult. Politically, I don’t know what the difference is. India already uses plenty of US made stuff - C17, C-130j, P8I, Apache helos, Chinook Helos, MH 60R Seahawk, M777 Howitzers, Harpoon Anti-ship missiles, MQ-9 drones and 31 more, SiG rifles, US made torpedos, Amphibious landing dock Jalashwa, Longbow radars, etc etc. The satellite connectivity, communications etc exist on those platforms too. So the familiarity is already there. Not sure why considering US fighter jets changes anything. No tech transfer is going to happen anyway. The best thing to do for India would be to get the 114 Rafale for the MRFA, continue to ramp up Tejas MK1A, Mk2 and AMCA and then order on the side, 36 F-35 aircraft.
