PPI's Drainage Division now represents drainage pipe made under the ASTM F894 standard for large diameter profile wall pipe! Check out this great project from Soleno using F894 pipe. The restoration of Montreal City Hall required the installation of a stormwater retention system capable of managing a large volume of water within strict space constraints near the historic building. To meet these challenges, Soleno's team recommended 1800 mm (71 in) diameter KUSTOMFLO pipes with integrated gasket bells. Made from high-density polyethylene (#HDPE), these pipes offered the ideal combination of durability and capacity, providing an efficient solution tailored to the project's specific needs. This project had not had the #waterproofing detailed before the retaining wall was installed. The developer had missed the National House-Building Council (NHBC) requirement for tanking. A Delta cavity drain system was proposed by the National Waterproofing Group, as this is perfect for new build construction and designed to deal with aggressive groundwater ingress and the reported ground gases. Moa Point Sludge Line Repairs, Mt Albert Tunnel, Wellington The main gravity sewer supply line to the Moa Point Wastewater Treatment Plant in Wellington travels via a 1.8km concrete lined interceptor tunnel that stretches from Island Bay to Kilbirnie. Cast in the concrete base of the tunnel are two 1.8km, PN35, DN150, concrete lined ductile iron pipes. These pipes allow the untreatable sludge from Moa Point to be pumped back to the landfill in Happy Valley. Due to a seismic event towards the end of 2019, it was discovered that the concrete tunnel benching had lifted and broken approx. 250m down the tunnel. Both pressure pipelines had also broken and were pumping sludge into the interceptor tunnel. Neither of the sludge pipelines could be used forcing Wellington Water to run a fleet of vacuum trucks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to transport the sludge at a cost to ratepayers of over $600,000.00 per week. I've been talking about it for years but it's essential to understand - especially on the private side of the property line, where we are not installing PVC pipe according to manufacturer's recommendations. We’ve got more lids than your drawer full of Tupperware containers ?? Our lids are a little different though and definitely won't get misplaced. The 17-tonne pre-cast lid that’s been lowered onto the deep chamber at our Central Interceptor Hillsborough site won’t be any use to you, but for us it’s a big deal. The chamber that it’s now firmly covering diverts wastewater flows into the shaft. That chamber gives our team access to said shaft to do maintenance on the Central Interceptor tunnel that lies 30-metres underground. And, sticking with the lid theme, across town at our Avondale site, a concrete lid has been gently placed on top of the diversion chamber that redirects wastewater flows from a mini poo tunnel – we call it link sewer C – to the main Central Interceptor tunnel. The main tunnel that all the diversion chambers will connect to is slowly but surely being connected to the local ?? network. Once that’s done and dusted, the massive tunnel will transport flows of wastewater to Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant for processing. All this mahi will help reduce wet weather overflows into local waterways and onto beaches. You could say, we’re putting a lid on wet weather overflows ??
