"In our mission to combat homelessness, we believe in offering a hand up, not a hand down. Our goal is to empower individuals with the tools and support they need to rebuild their lives, restoring dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency. Together, we’re not just providing shelter; we’re creating pathways to lasting change. In 2021, we committed to a transformation of our homelessness response system. We aligned investments to focus on reducing unsheltered homelessness. Together, the All Neighbors Coalition has reduced unsheltered homelessness by 24% since that system transformation began. Our next big milestone is a 50% reduction in unsheltered homelessness as compared to 2021 levels. If we stay the course with continued public and private investments in proven strategies for housing and support services, we can reach this goal by 2026. Together, we will make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in Dallas and Collin counties! #endhomelessness #Housingforward #allneighborscoalition

Check out this video as it illustrates the various forces that drive people into homelessness and shows the exceptional work Housing Forward and the All Neighbors Coalition (comprised of 150+ organizations/companies) are doing to help our homeless neighbors move to a place they can call home. Since overhauling the homelessness response system in 2021, the All Neighbors Coalition has rehoused more than 10,100 people in Dallas and Collin counties - a 24% reduction in unsheltered homelessness. The strategy is having significant impact! There is more work to do, and each of us can contribute to the effort to make a difference in our community. https://lnkd.in/gpF4qkVg

As the Executive Director of The Salvation Army Great Lakes Harbor Light System, I witness the heartbreaking reality of homelessness every day. These are real people—people who are mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters—who’ve lost their homes because they couldn’t afford rent, a medical bill, or survived a violent situation. For many, life’s circumstances became too much to bear, and now they are fighting just to survive. I do what I do because Christ’s love and compassion changed my life and gave me a purpose beyond my own. I believe we are called to care for each other, to love, forgive, and fight for justice for those who have little to no voice. Through God’s grace, I’ve been given a platform to serve, and with over 20 years of ministry experience, I use that platform to advocate for health, housing, education, and justice for our most vulnerable communities. Consider this: - 78% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and that number continues to grow. - 29% of Americans can’t even cover their basic living expenses. - Nearly half of those living paycheck to paycheck have less than $2,000 in savings. One illness, one accident, one missed paycheck is all it takes for so many to lose their home. Homelessness isn’t a distant reality; it’s a struggle that could touch any of us. But there is hope. Together, through compassion, community, and action, we can make a difference. Before you scroll past, ask yourself: What if it were you? #EndHomelessness #ChampionForTheVoiceless #FaithInAction #SupportOurCommunities #LoveLikeChrist #DoingTheMostGood
It's easy to discuss the issue of homelessness as something abstract, but when we consider that the people affected are individuals with stories and lives just like our own, it becomes deeply personal. Asking "What if it were me?" brings the issue closer to home, emphasizing that circumstances can change in an instant for any of us. This shift from seeing homelessness as an issue to realizing it's about people—friends, neighbors, ourselves—can ignite empathy and action. How would you want others to respond if you were the person in need??#WorldHomelessDay #StarGospelMission #EverybodyDeservesAHome #BrighterTogether #CharlestonSC #FaithInAction #EndHomelessness #TransformingHeartsAndLives #SGMCares #HousingForAll

This is an excellent article by two leading advocates for affordable housing and eradicating homelessness. One key takeaway comes from this quote: "While people enduring homelessness often face serious challenges—joblessness, health problems, domestic abuse, racial discrimination—placing them rapidly into a permanent home with supportive services is the most effective way of keeping them permanently off the streets.?A 2021 study?showed that prioritizing housing with services decreased homelessness by 88 percent. It's also a good investment. An independent?CDC?panel found that for every dollar invested in such housing, taxpayers?realize $1.44 in savings." - We all win if we do the right thing. The recent Supreme Court decision criminalizing homelessness does the opposite.
Punitive approaches only serve to send more people spiraling into homelessness. Instead, we know the real fix—getting people into homes with supportive services. Homelessness knows no boundaries. It touches lives from every walk of life, whether you're in the boardroom or on the streets. My work takes me everywhere—from making critical decisions in a boardroom to having raw, heartfelt conversations with a homeless veteran who has given so much for our country. The issue of homelessness is personal, and my commitment to creating change is relentless. From advocating for solutions at the highest levels to listening to stories of resilience and pain on the ground, I see every perspective, and I will never stop fighting for those without a voice. Because when it comes to homelessness, the work is never done, and every life matters. #MrsNorthPhoenix #EndHomelessness #HomelessNotHopeless #VeteranSupport #CommunityMatters #HumanityFirst #HomelessAwareness #FromBoardroomToStreet #HelpingHands #EveryLifeMatters #WeAreOne #BreakingBarriers #HopeInAction #ServiceAboveSelf #StandTogether #ChangeMakers #PhoenixCares #SupportOurVeterans #BuildingBetterFutures #CompassionInAction
