Yahoo revealed another hack that stole data from more than 1 billion accounts, VentureBeat reports. This hack -- of virtually all members -- occurred in August 2013, and included names, emails, birthdays, and more. A “state-sponsored hack,” revealed only last September (but which occurred in late 2014), compromised 500 million accounts. Yahoo is in the midst of a sale to Verizon, which has exhibited “deafening silence” about the state of the deal since September.
“I’m here to help you folks do well:” Tech leaders including Apple’s Tim Cook, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos sat down with Donald Trump for two hours. The industry largely didn't support him and Trump "often baited” companies in the sector during his campaign. But today was all smiles: “[I’m] going to be here for you," Trump told the assembled. "You’ll call my people, you’ll call me. We have no formal chain of command around here.”
The Fed raised rates after months of when-will-they-why-won’t-they “amid signs that the U.S. economy soon could shed its long period of stagnation,” CNBC reports. It’s the first hike in a year and only the second in a decade; Wall Street reacted “calmly” but closed down on the news. The other big reveal: The Fed expects three more hikes next year.
Everything that happens in Vegas might not stay in Vegas: The Wynn Las Vegas hotel plans to put Amazon Echos in all 4,748 of its rooms. The idea is to offer “seamlessly delicious,” voice-activated convenience, like the ability to ask Alexa to close the curtains when you're already in bed. But the cloud-based, always-listening service means your chatter isn't 100% private, which Consumerist notes "could also be a bit creepy."
Facebook is expanding its video efforts by exploring licensing scripted shows, game shows and sports. While it hasn’t committed to making its own content, it’s still a "significant step" for Facebook, which, as recode writes, "has insisted, over and over, that it is a tech company, not a media company.”
In other Trump news… His advisory council has added major names in tech and business, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Uber’s CEO Travis Kalanick and PepsiCo chairperson Indra Nooyi. They are part of a growing list of names meant to help firms create jobs and advise Trump on economic policy.

This is the first major meeting between President-elect Trump and technology industry leaders.
