This issue is also pervasive in the global South. Does anyone know of any Africa-based/ MENA-based organisations that are taking on CSAM both AI generated and human generated? The research shows that a significant proportion is produced by minors. I know Internet Watch Foundation is working with global partners but in my view we need more local actors to get involved.
AI generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is criminal in the UK and our Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) hotline is able to get this material removed from the internet by working with a large number of global partners. We're keeping this issue high on the agenda by producing regular reports to explain what we're seeing on the internet, given that we've got a near-unique ability to look in darker places online. Today's media coverage, however, demonstrates how AI-CSAM is not now 'only' in those darker areas, but is readily findable on the clear web - the web we use to do our shopping, check sports scores and get access to the news. Here's our press release, and also some coverage today in the Guardian (among many other titles which ran with this story): https://lnkd.in/eJ2TUJyR https://lnkd.in/eCxiY-87
