TIL: Even if your RDS database is public, your EKS pods might resolve it to a private IP if your VPC is set up with DNS and hostname resolution. The VPC DNS resolver prioritizes internal traffic when accessing resources within the VPC, optimizing network performance and security. This likely applies to other internal AWS services too. A great reminder of how AWS manages internal traffic efficiently!
