I've always believed that students flourish in environments enriched by diverse experiences and community voices. As a teacher, I prioritized more than just academics; I embraced community partnerships and service learning. Witnessing my students grow in confidence, creativity, and compassion through these experiences was one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching career. ??Get more insights in our complimentary 'Inclusivity' Checklist: https://bit.ly/42q2UD8

Check out this wonderful article written by Zvi Gutierrez! I had an incredible opportunity to apply for an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) position in Cambodia with The Fulbright Program, and I am honored to have been chosen as an Alternate. While I wasn't selected as a Finalist, the application taught me about myself and how we can promote cross-cultural connections. Give this article a read if you want to know more!

Transformative change can happen.
Nearly 10% of Teach For America corps members had a TFA teacher themselves when they were K-12 students. This is a growing phenomenon of “second-generation” corps members, and now we’re seeing this impact grow into a third generation. A new story from the Rio Grande Valley, my hometown, embodies this: Aberdeen Rodriguez joined Teach For America in the RGV in 2007 to provide more equitable opportunities for her students and started a two-decade-long tradition: Her student April Flores, who credits Aberdeen with helping her apply to college, returned to the RGV as a corps member in 2013. This year, Abril’s student Job Martinez has committed to joining?the 2024 corps in the Valley. I can’t wait to see the impact he’ll have! ????
