I feel amazing!! Want to know why? I spent last weekend soaking up information and inspiration, connecting with old friends and making new ones all while having a lot of fun at Influence, the National Speaker’s Association’s summer conference. It was so inspiring to listen to legends like Les Brown, Nido Qubein, Daniel Lubetzky and Glenn Stearns, and to learn from people like Lenora Billings Harris, Brian Biro, Diana Kander, Rene Rodriguez, Sonia Dumas, David Avrin and Mark Hunter amongst many others. And, of course - I had a great time watching Quinn Lemley’s performance at the Foundation Dinner and danced the night away at the CPAE dinner and banquet with DJ Rob Ferre. There is nothing like being in an environment of growth and learning, surrounded by others who are on the same path. The energy of the event was amazing, and I am packing it up and bringing some of it back to New York with me ?? How often do you attend a conference, listen to a Ted Talk, or indulge in a book to better your skills, your mindset or your attitude? As Diana Kander said at the event - success is the biggest obstacle to the future you want to create, for once we feel successful we stop innovating and growing. April was such a high, both literally and figuratively. From seeing the Milky Way from the summit of Mauna Kea to visiting my mama to sharing my message in person with four presentations in three different states to over 1500 people in total. How many adventures or speaking engagements do I have in May? Zero. Nada. Zilch. And that is fine with me. In the past, I wanted to make each month more jam-packed and "productive" than the last. Four speaking engagements last month? Let's do five this month! In that pursuit of always wanting more, I would cease to exist in the present. If I'm always racing to climb the next mountain, I can never enjoy the view from this one. ? Does this mean I have no goals and plan to drift forever? Absolutely not.?It means that I allow myself the time and grace to catch my breath and reflect on the journey before climbing the next peak. It means I trust the process. ? Having this time allows me to tap into my creativity and develop new content and programs based on feedback from my clients and conference attendees. I'm developing a group coaching program for people who want help learning how to slow down and actually enjoy their lives. I'm expanding my "Slow Down to Speed Up" keynote into a half-day workshop. What better way to teach others than by practicing what I preach? ? As the brilliant sage Ferris Bueller once said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."?So close your laptop, go outside, take a deep breath, and remember that regardless of what the future holds, you get to be alive and have the power to enjoy this moment. I delivered my 1st talk during the pandemic. It was a virtual session. I remember being incredibly nervous I didn’t know how to interact with the audience I didn’t know how to hold their attention. Back in college, I had always dreamed of addressing an audience and becoming a speaker. So when I received the invitation I felt a mix of excitement and happiness I was unsure of how I’d perform. That talk wasn’t perfect, but it was a turning point for me. It taught me that progress matters more than perfection. Fast forward to today, I’ve had the privilege of delivering keynotes, guest lectures, and mentoring sessions. 1) Guiding founders on branding, marketing strategies, and building a strong market presence. 2) Helping students understand personal branding and the foundational skills needed for success. 3) Mentoring professionals on leveraging LinkedIn to grow their influence and create opportunities. To this day, I still think about that first talk. It reminds me of where I started It keeps me grounded as I continue my journey. To anyone who’s nervous about speaking for the first time! Here’s my advice: Put yourself in your audience’s shoes and communicate accordingly. The ultimate goal is to connect with people and make a difference :) #rishsays

I was honored to be the keynote speaker at an Employment and Training Advisory Board Annual Forum where I realized something about presenting. People come to hear speakers to be moved enough to change. They can read and watch webinars to learn. They seek an emotion jolt that transforms them to risk without looking back. ?? And telling them what they need to do doesn't work. ?? It captivates people more to hear how the speaker made the journey his or herself - the highs, the lows and how it changed you. ? You know you have the audience in your hand when the entire auditorium has their eyes glued on you and are nodding. ? You know you have buy-in when not one person reaches for their phone in 60 minutes. ? You know you have engagement when there are more questions than you can get to at the end of the presentation. ?? Open yourself. ?? Tell your story. ?? Walk the talk. ?? Be yourself. Everybody else is already taken. #presenting #executivecoach
