Over the past year, I’ve embarked on a deeply fulfilling journey—pursuing my executive MBA. It has been a fulfilling journey of growth, learning, and reflection, and each step has enriched my professional and personal life. What sparked this adventure? Next week, we will drop my daughter off at university for the first time. Last year, as we started planning, visiting campuses, and witnessing her growth into this next stage of her journey, it reignited my long-held desire to further my education. Who would have thought that we'd both be pursuing higher education at the same time? Below are some of my thoughts: 1. A blessing in disguise: Beginning this later in life has been great. My leadership experience has given me the tools and perspective to approach this with confidence and clarity. 2. Bridging Theory and Practice: This program has helped me understand the psychology behind leadership practices and how generational shifts shape our leadership. 3. The Joy of Learning: Learning is a gift that I cherish more than ever and believe should be shared whenever possible. 4. Building a Stronger Foundation: This journey has helped me round out my skills and boost my confidence, laying a solid foundation for the future. 5. The Balancing Act: Juggling life, work, kids activities, my daughter’s university journey, and a postgraduate degree has been demanding, but it has also been a lot of fun—I wouldn't change a thing! Why are you getting an MBA? This is the question I often receive after mentioning I have started the Executive MBA program at Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management. For me, it comes down to two key reasons: 1. Networking – I want to be challenged by people smarter than me, who can expand my perspective and open doors through meaningful connections. 2. Continued Learning – While I love self-learning, nothing compares to structured classes led by world-class professors who push you to the next level of thinking. A few months into the program, and WOW, Kellogg has exceeded my expectations. The professors are exceptional, and the biggest highlight has been my cohort, EMBA 141!
