As The Jeely Piece Club turns 50, we’re embarking on an exciting project to celebrate the incredible history and impact of the Jeely and the Castlemilk community. To make this project as meaningful and inclusive as possible, we need your help! We’re inviting you to complete a short survey to share your thoughts, memories, and stories about The Jeely and Castlemilk. Your input will help us shape this special project, which will include: ?? Oral History: Recording stories and memories from older community members. ?? Commemorative Events: Celebrating key moments in The Jeely’s history. ?? Digital Archive: Creating an online space to preserve and share our heritage. This is your chance to get involved and help us document and preserve the living heritage of Castlemilk for future generations. Whether you want to share your own experiences, contribute photos or memorabilia, or just show your support, we’d love to hear from you! By completing the survey, you can also let us know if you’d like to be part of the project by sharing your story, being filmed, or helping out with events. In November, join CCR and UCI in celebrating and honoring Native American Heritage Month! This month commemorates the history and heritage of those in our community who identify as Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, First Nation, or Indigenous. It is a time to celebrate the traditions, stories and contributions of #NativeAmerican communities. This November and every month, we celebrate their rich histories and contributions to ensure they continue to thrive with each passing generation. The Center for Clinical Research recognizes the challenges Native Americans continue to face, including the underrepresentation of their community. In clinical research, Native Americans are often underrepresented due to limited outreach, historical mistrust, and geographic isolation that can deter participation. This lack of representation can lead to their health needs and responses to treatments not being adequately understood or addressed. Including Native Americans in clinical research is crucial to ensure that medical findings and treatments are applicable to all populations. By doing so, we can improve health outcomes and reduce disparities. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

My report "Public Cemeteries of the Sunshine Coast" is now available online. It is an outcome of my Historian-in-Residence grant at the Sunshine Coast Council. It is the first comparative history of the evolution of cemeteries on the Sunshine Coast (encompassing former Landsborough and Maroochy shires). There is still much more research to be done, but hopefully it will kickstart interest and more research into these important community heritage sites. https://lnkd.in/gZKvwCs6
