As an architect, I approach a food desert phenomenon by organizing big pieces of the puzzle. I am asking what are physical characteristics of various food desert environments and, consequently - how to prioritize and negotiate major obstacles to help individuals and communities to get on the path to food security and eventually, embrace "food is medicine" paradigm.
