As a candidate you want to leverage every opportunity as you look for your next job. So, you've read someone's advice, probably on LinkedIn, that it's beneficial to reach out to recruiters via LI. You send me a direct message indicating your skill set and asking for my help. May I suggest a tweak to your strategy? Consider who you're reaching out to... I regularly receive DMs from people looking for IT work, but I don't hire IT professionals. The company with whom I work, TechSource, Inc, hires engineers and scientists to support various Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) and Department of Defense contracts; active security clearances are always required. I don't post openings for cybersecurity or software engineers. Yet, I keep getting DMs from IT folks. Consider reviewing the recruiter's summary on LI before you send a DM. It'll save you time, energy, and frustration. FOCUS your efforts on companies who do hire people with your skill sets and experience. #jobsearchtip #jobsearch #jobseekers #candidateexperience
