I today sat on a presentation on Men's Health organised by our trade association AMII, with Dr. Tom Brett from HCA. Well chaps it's pretty grim reading. Based upon data from 2020, 1 in 5 men don't make it to retirement, often for things that if identified early could have been treated. 1. 75% of premature deaths were due to heart disease. 2. Men are 26% more likely to have diabetes. 3. Men are less likely to go and see a GP. 4. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer and yet its almost 100% curable, if caught early. 5. Prostate cancer has doubled in the last 20 years, primarily as we become better at diagnosing it. Having a Health screen will identify issues early, giving you the best possible outcome. A Health screen is no different to servicing your car, its a simple question, "which is more important". We are able to offer Health Screening for employers who want to ensure key staff stay in the best of Health, all paid via the business. (Min 2 staff required). So what's a typical Health screen cost, anything from £363 - £525 will give you a good overview of your Health. However a note of caution, before you go ahead with a screen, it makes sense to ensure that in the event something is diagnosed, you have a Health insurance policy to pick up the costs for future treatment. It's important that the insurance is in place before issues are identified as part of the health screen, as typically a health insurance wont cover pre-existing (known) medical condition. Or put another way, you can't buy it after the issues has been identified. So gents, let's stop thinking we are invincible, because the data says otherwise.
