This past year has been nothing short of a dream. Our professional ambitions are reflected in our personal lives – we welcome challenges, act with foresight, and thrive on zigging while others zag. Last year we launched our design studio, moved to Thailand, and settled into our island home. Below are some learnings we discovered along the way: 1. Finding the right partner in life and business is everything. Breaking boundaries, redefining the status quo, and pushing the limits of creativity and design is easy when you have Kelly Harris by your side. 2. Thailand is our third international move and the first we've tackled on our own without the help of a corporate relocation service. It was easier than we expected and more rewarding after we settled in. 3.?Island life can be accessible, and technology makes operating a business in a variety of locations easier than ever. Despite living on a remote island with 70,000 people and no roads or bridges to the mainland (boats and planes are the only options), there are direct flights to international gateways such as Bangkok, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Gigabit internet and 5G cellular across the island make connectivity a breeze. 4. Driving on the opposite side of the road is not for the faint of heart! Shaking off four decades of driving habits requires serious focus. 5. Thailand is known for its stunning beaches, flavorful cuisine, and rich culture, but the diverse community of people from all walks of life is really what makes it stand out. We’re inspired by a circle of friends who have found their happiness and work-life balance in the most unconventional ways. 6. Whether it be your personal life or work life, it’s way too easy to get comfortable and complacent. Changing daily, weekly, and monthly routines foster creativity and innovation. 7. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to collaborate with open-minded clients in our first year as a design studio. While we may be in different time zones, our shared vision keeps us connected. 8.
