??? Building Bonds Through Art: The Blind Sketch Challenge at Our Community Hub! ????? ?? Two minds, one masterpiece! Today, we embarked on a unique journey of creativity and collaboration with our "Blind Sketch Challenge" at our community hub. In teams of two, we delved into an adventure where communication, trust, and teamwork took center stage. ?? With one team member blindfolded and the other acting as their eyes, we navigated through handpicked diagrams, relying solely on verbal guidance to bring the sketches to life. From intricate shapes to abstract forms, every stroke on the paper was a testament to the power of clear communication and mutual understanding. ?? The challenge wasn't just about creating art; it was about building connections and strengthening bonds within our community. As teammates worked seamlessly together, guiding and supporting each other through the creative process, trust flourished, and relationships deepened. ?? Laughter echoed throughout the room as we embraced the beauty of collaboration, celebrating not only the final artworks but also the journey of teamwork, coordination, and shared vision. Through this challenge, we discovered that true art lies not only in what we create but also in the connections we forge along the way. ?? Congratulations to all participants for showcasing incredible teamwork and creativity! Let's continue to nurture these bonds and inspire each other as we journey towards greater heights together. ???? #blindsketchchallenge?#teamwork?#communitycreativity?#lakshyasoftware

?? Exciting Firechat Experience with Design Legend Don Norman! ?? Today, I had the incredible privilege of attending a Firechat session with none other than the design icon, Don Norman! ? It was an enlightening experience delving into the mind of someone who has revolutionized the field of design and human-centered thinking. From his early days to his groundbreaking work, Don Norman has always emphasized the importance of considering the human element in design. His holistic approach doesn't just focus on digital interfaces or tangible products; it extends to understanding the human experience in its entirety. ?? During the session, Don Norman highlighted the significance of integrating human emotions, behaviors, and societal contexts into the everyday design process, citing examples such as combating climate change and resolving conflicts. He emphasized that as designers, we have a responsibility to create solutions that not only prioritize user-friendliness but also have the best interests of humanity's future at their core. ?? As I reflect on today's discussion, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunity to learn from such a visionary thinker. Thank you, Don Norman, for your invaluable insights and unwavering dedication to human-centered design and thank you adplist.org for making it possible. Here's to continuing your legacy and shaping a more empathetic and impactful world through design! ?? #designinspiration #humancentereddesign #innovationindesign #empathy #designcommunity

The NINETEENTH post in my "32 days of Case Studies in Retrofitting Suburbia" project. Case Study II.19: Technology Park, Peachtree Corners, GA, USA Can lower-density suburbs effectively reduce and disrupt auto dependence with multiuse walking and biking trails and autonomous vehicles (AVS)? Can an aging 500-acre office park leverage such amenities to attract the next-generation hipster and "creative class" workers its tenants want to hire? Peachtree Corners is giving it a try with housing designed for Millennials and Gen Zers, an expanded trail system so they can bike to work, and a high-tech test AV track to connect to a new town center development. ? A new multiuse trail system connects the largely hidden green spaces and lakes inside the office park both to an existing regional bike trail and to core commercial areas primed for redevelopment outside of technology Park. In residential areas, the trails are widened sidewalks within the existing public street right-of-way. In commercial areas, the trails are aligned with existing easements for sewer and gas infrastructure, around storm water retention lakes, and in flood plains along creeks. ? Team: Lord Aeck Sargent, Alta Planning + Design, City of Peachtree Corners ? Image: In 2019, Peachtree Corners opened Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners, described as the first 5G-equipped "vehicle-to- everything” smart test track in the US. It kicked off with a three-month pilot of an Olli autonomous shuttle bus. Narrowing driving lanes to 10 feet made room for the dedicated AV track and exemplifies how collector streets in office parks, which tend to be wide, are prime candidates for installing dedicated lanes for multimodal mobility. #RetrofittingSuburbia #urbandesign #urbandevelopment #regreening #reinhabitation #ImprovePublicHealth #DistruptAutomobileDependence #CompeteforJobs ULI Australia Suburban Futures Ellen Dunham-Jones Mike Day of Hatch

The value and interest of internal studio projects??? I’ve written a thought piece about the profound impact of internal projects on our team’s creativity, innovation, and collaborative spirit. At makemepulse, studio projects are the heartbeat of our studio. They have always served as a playground for experimentation, allowing us to explore new ideas, technologies, and approaches in a low-pressure environment. There is a lot of value, but also challenge in bringing them to life. Get a look into the heart of the studio along with a glimpse of what’s currently in the works, ready to be released very soon. Someone asked me recently, why is #worldbuilding not just cool, but important? It’s a great question, which prompted me to share a passage from my next book, WORLDBUILDER. “In today's world, where chaos seems to be the norm, the art of worldbuilding stands out not just as a canvas for narratives but as a crucial, enriching form of storytelling itself. It's time to push for depth, complexity, and meaning in a time that often overlooks these values. Every map, fictional history, or invented language is more than just detail; it's an invitation to dive in, understand, and let our imaginations soar. Through worldbuilding, we're not just entertaining; we're crafting realms where creativity flourishes, ideas spring to life, and, echoing Tolkien, we engage in creation itself. Worldbuilding weaves a complex web that blends geography, history, culture, and philosophy. It's more than setting the scene; it's about building an entire ecosystem where ideas and values clash and coalesce. When executed with care, it becomes a platform to delve into hefty themes like morality, identity, and the essence of humanity, offering a playground to examine societal intricacies, challenge the status quo, and dream up new realities. In an era obsessed with quick content—be it viral videos or tweets—the richness that well-developed worlds offer is not just a breath of fresh air; it's vital. While light entertainment has its place, providing quick distraction, it often misses the mark on engaging us deeply. It's like comparing fast food to a nourishing meal: one might satiate temporarily, but the other truly satisfies. Worldbuilding, with its intricate layers and thematic depth, promises a more enriching experience, beckoning audiences to come back, explore, and question, thereby forging a stronger bond with the narrative and, by extension, the world beyond the page or screen. A well-crafted world can indeed be an escape, but it's the kind of escape that can enlighten and provoke thought. It offers a sanctuary from the mundane, yet it arms us with new perspectives to tackle our own realities. The most impactful fictional universes blend into our consciousness, providing metaphors and lessons that influence our real-life decisions and viewpoints. As we edge into new #storytelling territories like #vr and #augmentedreality will only amplify. These emerging platforms will require worlds that captivate not just visually but resonate on emotional and intellectual levels—worlds robust enough to invite endless exploration and rich enough to inspire and challenge.” #transmedia
