?? ?? Communication is KEY ?? ?? There's a lot of lessons corporate and tactical teams can take from watching sports! One of these lessons is about the important of effective (verbal/nonverbal) communication. The clip below is from the 2015 Ruby Final match between the New Zealand All Blacks vs. the Australia Wallabies. A couple of key points I want to point out from this clip: 1. Richie McCaw’s Leadership: As captain, Richie McCaw was constantly communicating with his teammates, directing them in both attack and defense. His leadership and clear communication set up the play leading to Barrett's try. 2. The Setup Play: Before Barrett scored, the All Blacks executed a series of well-coordinated passes and offloads, showing excellent communication among the players to maintain the flow of the game and break through the Australian defense. 3. Beauden Barrett’s Anticipation: Barrett’s awareness and communication with his teammates allowed him to identify the gap and sprint down the field to score the try. His ability to read the game and communicate his intentions resulted in one of the most memorable moments of the final. Now, applying that to your team, we see that effective communication comes from the TOP. Leadership is responsible for setting the expectation and overseeing the execution of effective communication and mission success. Let me show you some skills that you can put in to practice that will help you take your team to the next level and get you communicating for success. #communication #performance #rugby #sportpsychology #coaching #teamwork #leadership #professionaldevelopment #keynote #publicspeaking #teambuilding #sports #corporate #tactical #effective #execute #goals #success https://lnkd.in/ghwNHCHf

In the world of sports, few things capture our attention more than a highly anticipated soccer match. Yesterday's 1-1 draw between Club Tijuana de Caliente and Querétaro FC was no exception. Taking place at the iconic Estadio Caliente, this match wasn't just about the score. It was a canvas reflecting determination, resilience, and strategy. Both teams brought something unique to the field: Tijuana with their quest for a first win of the season, and Querétaro striving to keep their spot in the top rankings. Efraín álvarez and Facundo Agustín Batista Ochoa, the scorers from both sides, showed us that soccer is as much about individual brilliance as it is about teamwork. Their performances remind us that in any professional journey, the blend of personal skill and collaborative effort is key to overcoming challenges. In the broader scope of leadership and competition, this match is a great reminder that outcomes are never entirely predictable. It’s the perseverance and adaptability in the face of unexpected results that truly define success. For those of us navigating our own professional challenges, the essence of this game teaches us the importance of flexibility and the capacity to pivot when the stakes are high. What insights do you draw from sports like soccer that influence your leadership style or career approach? Let's discuss and learn from each other's perspectives. #LeadershipLessons #SoccerInsights #Teamwork #Resilience

https://lnkd.in/eEQD7gqJ This interview with Francisco Lindor of the Mets, after he broke up a no-hitter in the ninth inning two days ago, tying the game and leading to an eventual Mets' win, is an understated lesson in non-hierarchical leadership from a peer. I recommend viewing for the 3+ minutes to hear how: (1) The leader recognizes not his personal achievement, but how it contributed to the team goal: His homerun was "only big because we ended up winning." (2) The leader focuses on his teammates and their contributions, recognizing the team effort, and minimizing his individual performance. (3) Most poignant, the leader puts things in perspective. This game was on 9/11, and he shows that a leader recognizes that there is always something bigger than a "win," whether it be in baseball or business. On that solemn day, he recognizes first responders and "all the people who really do a hard job in life," saying: "My problems in baseball are Disney problems." Excellent, unintended and unscripted, lesson in leadership.

Euro’24 success for the Dutch and Belgium …..... leading brewers Although it feels to me that the summer has not yet started, we have come to the end of the European Championships football. For brewers the weather in Northern Europe could have been slightly better, but at least the results on the pitch generally went the right way. We looked at publicly available data from the Oxford Partnership about the number of pints sold in UK pubs during match days, as well as at comments from UK retailers about sales leading up to yesterday’s game, and extrapolated this to overall beer volumes. The effect on countries playing three games at the group stages is a 0.25% volume increase for 2024 (just shy of an extra trading day). Making progress throughout the knock-out stages adds a further 0.09%, 0.17%, 0.24% and eventually 0.54% for reaching the final. When we multiply beer consumption in the 24 participating countries with these percentages, we calculate an additional beer volume of 225 million litres. In the most ideal scenario (which includes a Germany – Spain final), volumes would have increased by 260 million litres, while in a worst scenario for the beer industry (and an Albania – Georgia final), volumes would have grown by only 100 million litres. When we look at individual brewers (and assume stable market shares), Heineken comes out on top, followed by AB InBev and Mahou-San Miguel. For Heineken, the final was between two of its largest EURO’24 countries. Only drawback was that its no.1 market by volume, Poland, got eliminated at the group stages. AB InBev benefitted from the strong performance of England, which helped them leapfrog some larger European competitors. For Mahou San-Miguel (and its slightly smaller compatriot Damm) the tournament could not have gone any better. Apart from the actual result on the pitch, these companies also celebrated that the final was contested between their two largest beer markets. Asahi (and to a lesser extent Carlsberg) might have wished for different score lines in Germany, although the pre-tournament odds for a ‘Poland – Czech Republic’ final were probably fairly similar as those for a heatwave here in England ??. #Euro24 #Beer #Heineken #ABInbev #MahouSanMiguel #Damm #Carlsberg #Asahi PS. Calculations are for illustrative purposes only and do not take e.g. differences in regional weather conditions, value of beer sales or football tourism into account

Its the perennial political football in golf clubs - and identified by you as the fourth biggest challenge facing clubs in 2025. Food and Beverage losses - an area where members are all experts.... After all, we all eat and drink, so why shouldn't we all be experts in F&B Management ? Well I use the toilet every day too, but that doesn't make me a plumber. Golf club members think that their F&B Department should make a profit, not too much of a profit, that would be wrong, but definitely a profit. But how many fully understand the challenges in breaking even when they demand high quality, large quantity, expansive opening hours, high levels of service and of course, low prices. If your wrestling with this challenge get in touch - as you can tell, its not our first rodeo.... [email protected]

True leadership often involves resilience, creativity, and the ability to adapt to challenges. Strong leaders will find ways to navigate obstacles, inspire their teams, and achieve their goals, even in difficult situations. This mindset is what often sets successful leaders apart—they focus on solutions and persevere until they reach their objectives.

Bill Bellichek was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Nick Saban was his defensive coordinator. THEY WERE BOTH FIRED ?? Bellichek went on to win 6 Super Bowls. Saban went on to win 7 NCAA national championships. Bellichek and Saban were NOT the problem. The Browns front office and culture were the problem. Someones inability to value your gifts, does not diminish your gifts. Go prove them wrong ??
