Thank you BCI for your very important acknowledgement of our St. Charles County property owners whose tax contributions make possible our work and collective accomplishments through our partner organizations to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
Let’s be honest—paying taxes isn’t anyone’s favorite. But when you pay your property tax, you’re doing much more than checking off a yearly obligation; you’re sending powerful support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities! How? St. Charles County twice approved a tax (real and personal) to support citizens with developmental disabilities—once in '77 and again in '86. This line item (.1223% per $100 assessed valuation) generates over $2M for the Developmental Disabilities Resource Board (DDRB) to fund services from local nonprofits like BCI. Over 3,000 individuals access critically needed services and supports, including early intervention, therapies, residential, employment/employment training, respite for caregivers, socialization/recreation, technology/technology training, and adaptive equipment. Take a quick peek at your bill breakdown, and you’ll see it. And while it’s a small part of the overall total, its impact is huge! Other counties are also funded this way. So, as the December 31 deadline approaches, we thank you all for being part of something big. Your support strengthens our community and changes lives! #Community #PersonalPropertyTax #ThankYou #InclusionMatters #Disability Developmental Disabilities Resource Board of St. Charles County
