? Solidarity Statement from the BEE Collective As this election season comes to a close, the BEE Collective stands firm in our commitment to collective care, healing justice, and a future where every child and family can thrive with dignity, safety, and support. We recognize that advancing equity for Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities requires bold, sustained action and a shared responsibility to nurture our communities’ well-being. Inspired by the enduring work of ancestors and those who have advocated tirelessly for children’s and families’ rights, we reaffirm our mission to create a world where every family, especially those who have faced historical and structural barriers, has access to safe, nurturing spaces and the resources needed to flourish. This is not only a call for justice but also for healing—acknowledging that true resilience lies in addressing both immediate needs and the root causes of inequity. At the BEE Collective, we are committed to a vision of collective care that moves beyond temporary solutions. We know that achieving real change means investing in long-term strategies that strengthen communities, support resilient leadership, and prioritize mental, emotional, and physical health. Through partnerships, policy work, and direct community engagement, we advocate for systems that honor the dignity and potential of every child, family, and caregiver. As we move forward, we call on all allies, organizations, and community members to join us in this journey toward healing and justice. Let us work together to build a society where all children and families have the opportunity to grow, learn, and live in communities free from violence, prejudice, and inequity. In unity, we can take meaningful steps toward a future grounded in care, respect, and a commitment to lasting change. Together, let’s stand united, nurture our collective strength, and continue the vital work of healing and justice—ensuring that every child, family, and community can thrive. Adrienne Simone Kim ?? The thing about organizing is that it is happening all time. For you, against you, alongside you. And this week is, well, the consequence of a series of political actions coming home to roost. I am shocked and I am devastated. I am devastated for my friends, my queer friends in particular; my city, which is about the become the testing ground for whatever fascist nonsense policies that are coming our way; and, yes, for me, because I have to live on this dying planet with people who did not care about our collective future at all. This is me talking. Elyssa is not non-partisan. Elyssa does not give a shit. Rising Organizers is non-partisan, and we're staying that way. My job is not to elect Democrats, fix Democrats, or lead Democrats. But my job is to make sure that the American people have the skills and resources they need to fight for a just future. My job is to make sure the American people have the civic and structural education to keep their eye on the ball of our collective future. These are not partisan goals, and it is a testament to the state of our society that they can come off that way. Right now, people are scrambling to learn how to organize, as they did in 2016 when we were founded. Eight years ago, almost to the day, we held our first organizing training for precisely this purpose. We are experts at this. We need the resources to meet people where they are today, and every day. I cannot tell you how many posts I have seen from folks wanting to learn how they can organize. That is my job. That has been my job, in some fashion, for nearly a decade. But people do not know that Rising Organizers exists because we do not have the resources to promote our work as widely as we need to. If you would like to change that, you can donate here right now: https://lnkd.in/eg2nmwj2. You can connect us to funders, right now. You can talk to your wealthy suburban Aunt who is freaking out, right now, about contributing to our work. You can do all of it. You do not have to wait. We will have an Organizing 101 training coming your way shortly. Until then—the cure to anxiety has always been action. Do something. I won't even ask you to leave you depression pile on the couch. Just get your credit card, click the link, and let's go.

?? In a recent podcast, we talked to Jared Wallace, Assistant Chief of Police at City of Waco, TX about the positive changes observed by patrol officers and detectives since participating in Faith & Blue events. Assistant Chief Wallace noted, "With our Faith & Blue event activities, we saw leadership across the city getting involved, making community engagement a more accepted practice at Waco PD. Officers began volunteering for these events on their own, not because they were assigned, but because they wanted to connect with the community." He added, "One of the most memorable moments was seeing patrol officers and detectives, who had never engaged before, sitting down at a barbecue hosted by a local church, sharing stories, and playing with the kids. It showed that breaking bread together can truly break down barriers." ??These insights underscore the power of community engagement in fostering positive cultural changes within the department. While these changes take time, the progress achieved is immensely rewarding. The bonds formed during these events have lasting impacts, reinforcing that connecting with faith communities enriches policing culture. Addressing Systemic Inequities in Los Angeles: A Call for Genuine Advocacy In Los Angeles, systemic racism deeply affects youth of color, leading to higher rates of drug use, overdoses, homelessness, incarceration, and health issues. It’s concerning to see individuals and organizations, often unaffected by these issues, seeking grants and donations without genuinely supporting these communities. To create real change, it’s crucial to prioritize authenticity in philanthropy. We need to work directly with vulnerable populations, amplifying their voices and addressing their needs. This means demanding accountability and transparency from those claiming to help. Let’s focus on true partnerships that empower rather than exploit, ensuring our efforts lead to meaningful, lasting change for justice-impacted communities.

We are less than two weeks away from SCG's 2024 Annual Conference, Better Together: Creating A Collective Legacy! Register and get your ticket today: https://buff.ly/3Yq12ue We are pleased to share the next breakout session, "Reimagining Public Safety: Human Trafficking and Large Global Events." Global events in Los Angeles, such as the World Cup and the Olympics, will have drastic regional impacts and will naturally raise the question of how best to protect and support vulnerable individuals. Issues that funders are working on every day, including homelessness and justice reform, intersect in unexpected and important ways with other issues, including human trafficking. Media portrayals of sex and labor trafficking often distort public understanding, perpetuate harmful stereotypes, and even lead to the criminalization of victims. Join us to dispel myths, understand the real impact of these events on vulnerable people, and consider your role as a funder in advancing systemic change on these interrelated issues. Speakers will include: ? Susie Baldwin, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health ? Jenna Bruce, Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST) ? Kiran Gupta, Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST) ? Lyresh Magee, Coco Strandz ? Abigail Marquez, City of Los Angeles, Community Investment for Families Department Learn more about our session topics and register today: https://buff.ly/3YJLelW #SCGBetterTogether

NACWC National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc P.O.I.S.E Chapter , and the Astonishing Aloha Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. here at Lincoln University, Beau Mariah and Liz Morrow for inviting me to speak on social injustices “The Ballot or Your Future”. Although today’s discussion was a weighty one, it was deeply necessary. Often, we become consumed by social media—scrolling through Reels, watching endless streams of content—while significant issues continue to unfold around us. Legislation, regulations, and policies are constantly shaping our communities, our state, and our country. But are we asking the right questions? Are we paying attention to the injustices right before us—environmental harm, high maternal mortality rates, voter suppression? These issues demand our attention and action. The path to change begins with voting. Voting is the first step in electing leaders who are genuinely invested in our communities, whether at the local, state, or federal level. My grandmother used to say, “Charity starts at home and then spreads abroad.” So, what will you do for your community? Today’s discussion underscored that healing from social injustices begins within each of us. By informing ourselves, staying engaged, and working to uplift our communities, we create a foundation for broader change. Let’s keep this conversation going and continue to drive meaningful action. Thank you for this opportunity to reflect and to inspire change. Healing from social injustices start with-in #KyerraJohnson #WeSpeakFoundation
