Why do we all feel so powerless - and what can we do about it? ?? ?Communities feel powerless in the face of their challenges and marginalisation ?Nonprofits feel powerless in the face of mounting demand & shrinking, restrictive funding ?Grant makers feel powerless in the face of overwhelming need, and low control over funds ?Foundation Executives feel powerless in the face of mounting critique of their purpose, and a lack of alignment with their boards and funding sources. ?Boards feel powerless in the face of the ethical, legal and financial lines they have to operate within to fund or create impact. But we're not powerless. When we change our mindset, and find the right community and resources - anything is possible. Our #FixTheFlow Fellowship aims to be just that. A 6-month programme for fundraisers and funders including: Learning Sessions, Systems Change Workshops, Coaching and a Global Peer Community. We're all part of the same system, and we are all Resource Activists within it. Want to join us? Apply by 14th June ?? https://lnkd.in/evGBu5hX

Building Community?with Notre Dame Any startup or nonprofit can tell you that building community takes coordination, dedication, and willpower. Take our work with the University of Notre Dame. Their goal: to better understand and connect with the communities around Notre Dame and their partners abroad. How we went about this opportunity is detailed in this case study: https://lnkd.in/eUnNTknS. And the outcome? Screens are stealing the future of our youth. Here’s why, To change this trend, We need to teach them how to Give Back. Today's digital distractions are pulling Gen Z out of reality and into a virtual world. Our youth are growing up in a digital age that prioritises → Likes, → Shares, and → Fleeting online interactions over meaningful human connections. It's not just about donating; it's about → Engaging, → Connecting, and → Being present. This is why, at The Give Back Community, we're making a big pivot. We're not just focusing on Spreading Generosity. We're doubling down on instilling these values in Gen Z. It's about showing them; → The joy in helping others, → The fulfillment in being useful, and → The richness of real-life experiences over digital ones. It’s about teaching the young generation to be of Service and Useful. We're embarking on this journey to weave generosity into the fabric of our future leaders, To teach them the value of looking up from their screens and into the eyes of those who need their help. Your thoughts? How can we further this mission together? Live Generously Umberto ------ PS. I post at 12 pm EST (Mon-Sat). Turn on the notification in case you miss my post.

This brilliant small business aims to serve a forgotten market that has been left behind in the digital world. They align small non-profits and community groups with the digital era to set them on the path for sustainable growth. Their first initiative, myPTA, gives underfunded schools in low socio-economic areas equal access to a streamlined and affordable tech platform, where parent communities can raise more funds for schools, and build stronger, inclusive communities. ?? Our very own Sophie Owens kicked off a (sold out!) roadshow with the Technology Association of Grantmakers! TAGlocal gathers foundations, nonprofits, and partners in four cities: Chicago, NYC, DC, and San Francisco. The hot topic? You guessed it! AI. At the first stop in Chicago, Sophie did a panel with Rebecca Gitomer, CPA and Eric Reyes from CareerVillage.org. Here are the takeaways: ?? Nonprofits are crucial in leveraging AI for social good. ?? The need for AI action is urgent to avoid widening inequalities. ?? Funding AI means embracing risk and uncertainty. If you attended the Chicago event, we’d love to see your key takeaways in the comments. ?? Next stop: New York City! ??
