?? ?? It is becoming more common to see a guide or assistance dog at football games. For a long time Sam and I very rarely, if ever, came across other assistance dogs at games on our travels. More recently though, we have come across other guide dog owners and assistance dog owners as well. So, what can you do to make your stadium accessible for guide dogs and assistance dogs? Below are some ideas you might want to think about: ? An area of grass or concrete that dogs can use if they need the toilet, known as a ‘spending’ area ? Make stewards aware that that a supporter with an assistance dog is coming and that they may need to leave the ground at half time if their dog needs the toilet ? Having things like water bowls available can be very helpful Remember guide and assistance dogs are working dogs, so please don’t distract them when they are working. ??? However, our hearts remain heavy as we reflect on the deaths of Giovinco and Pikar, the two horses who were killed over the course of the festival ?? Since the year 2000, 65 horses have fallen victim to this industry's callous disregard for their welfare. Among them, 16 were killed in the Grand National. One death is one too many. We demand accountability and change. It’s time for a new era in horse racing, one where the welfare of these majestic creatures reigns supreme ??
