It is clear that Trump’s intention is to terrorize communities and disrupt lives by targeting immigrants, including ending ICE’s Sensitive Locations Policy and humanitarian parole. These directives will cause immediate suffering & lasting harm to the nation. https://lnkd.in/gRHveV-C

The U.S. has a deeply rooted commitment to protecting individuals fleeing persecution. After World War II, we pledged to safeguard refugees whose home countries failed to protect them. This commitment, enshrined in asylum laws and policies over 40 years ago, is part of our nation's identity. While the system has its complexities, it has brought order and hope to those in need. Disrupting it creates unnecessary chaos for those seeking safety. ?? The country is currently grappling with a surge of fascist riots and thugary, a dire consequence of the Tory party's toxic rhetoric. Leading figures like Suella Braverman and Rishi Sunak have deliberately scapegoated migrant communities for the government's failings, escalating xenophobia and division. Their inflammatory statements and divisive policies have fanned the flames of extremism, emboldening far-right to wreak havoc across the nation. These riots are direct consequences of their calculated demonisation of vulnerable groups, which not only distracts from the real issues plaguing the country but also perpetuates a dangerous cycle of hatred. It's imperative to hold these leaders and anyone involved (directly and indirectly) accountable for the chaos they've incited. Failure to confront this menace head-on risks normalising such toxic behaviours, thereby eroding the very principles of justice and equality that the UK strives to uphold. #UKRiots #StopFascism #ToryToxicity #EndXenophobia #FightHate #SocialJustice

?? Breaking News: Trump Declares National Emergency for Mass Deportations ?? President Trump has announced plans to declare a national emergency to use military assets for mass deportations. But can a president legally do this? Let’s break it down: ?? The Posse Comitatus Act limits the use of military for domestic law enforcement—but there’s an exception: national emergencies. ?? Could the southern border qualify as such? Some may argue it poses risks to national security and public safety. Here’s what’s at stake: ?? Due Process: Undocumented immigrants do have rights, including access to an attorney. ?? Blended Families: Families with both documented and undocumented members could face devastating impacts. ??♂? Hardworking Immigrants: Many undocumented individuals contribute to the economy without any criminal record. Key Concerns: 1?? Will military personnel have the proper training to handle mass deportations ethically? 2?? What are the humanitarian consequences? This is a critical moment. Your immigration status and strategy must be airtight. If you or a loved one needs guidance, now is the time to act. ?? UK Government has deliberately wrecked its own asylum system, creating a huge and constantly rising increase in financial cost (on top of the dreadful human cost), and is in part offsetting its extraordinary wastefulness against its contribution to international development. Simply refusing to take responsibility for asylum claims made by people in the UK is the policy that has done this; and by repeatedly ratcheting up that policy in the face of the predictable and predicted damage it is causing, Home Secretaries (Patel, Braverman and Cleverly) and Prime Ministers (Johnson and Sunak) have massively exacerbated the cost of this. There is no justification for the offset, no need for the cost, and no sense in this policy - other than the determination to keep doing cruelty, stirring hate and hostility to sustain the clamour for that cruelty, and avoid ever acknowledging responsibility for all this by abandoning a policy that can only continue to do harm for so long as it is continued. https://lnkd.in/e2z8a-Ck

?????????? TRUMP ORDERS GUANTANAMO BAY EXPANSION FOR MIGRANT DETENTION Right narrative: Pres. Trump's expansion of Guantanamo Bay detention facilities represents a necessary measure to protect American communities from dangerous criminal migrants who may not stay in their home countries after deportation. It also immediately doubles the United States' detention capacity. Left narrative: This latest presidential edict grossly violates basic human rights by creating a legal black hole in an offshore prison, putting people's physical and mental health in jeopardy while attempting to avoid legal oversight and scrutiny of detention conditions. This is a brazen violation of humanitarian principles. https://lnkd.in/eEMQXphz

ON MASS DEPORTATION From the National Immigration Forum ___ *America should not force families to decide between deportation or separation. There are 4 million individuals living in mixed-status families, including many U.S. citizen children and babies born to undocumented parents. *Americans, including Republicans, want President-elect Trump to prioritize the removal of violent criminals and people with existing deportation orders, not those who are contributing to the U.S. and their communities and may have U.S. citizen family members. *Almost 80% of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. have lived here for more than 10 years. They are our neighbors, go to our churches, and are part of our communities. *Mass deportations would disrupt local communities everywhere. We cannot have law enforcement going house to house looking for undocumented immigrants. Local law enforcement officials know that would go against keeping everyone in our communities safe.

Truly shocking, disgusting but sadly not surprising considering politics that cowardly blame the weakest link in the immigration conundrum that represent symptoms of constant/consistent foreign policy failures that are part of the root causes of this. Reforms should begin with foreign policy and end with security and migration policy reforms not vice versa. More importantly politicians of all affiliations should stop using vile rhetoric against immigrants (particularly ones accompanied by racist overtones) and make a point in condemning such acts in clear/unambiguous terms because people are feeding off this toxic environment; of course I cannot make this happen but this can be a way forward towards a resolution path rather than a convenient rhetoric path that achieves absolutely nothing and exacerbates the situation further both internally and externally. #immigration #foreignpolicy #reforms

The Washington Post reports that last month, the task force established by President Biden to reunify children separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border published its most recent set of data on the reunification efforts. More than 3,200 children have been reunited with their families, about 800 of them thanks to the task force’s work. An additional 1,400, though, have not been—at least through the auspices of the task force. Of the 1,400, about 300 are either in the process of being reunified or have had their families contacted.
