Raising awareness for Movember is as important as raising money. Working directly with Movember is helping me to be better able to have those difficult conversations I would usually shy away from. Going beyond small talk and talking about real issues in the lives of friends and family. As you may have heard already, I'm on a mission to raise funds and increase awareness on men's health issues this November because I dream of a future where cancer and mental health don't take away our loved ones prematurely. That is why I continue to support causes such as Movember. Over the past 14 consecutive years, I have grown what some would say may not qualify as a moustache and raised money for the cause. Last week, we had a fabulous visit and full-day workshop with The Salvos in Bourke Street, Melbourne.?We learnt that every 17 seconds, someone is helped by the Salvos and at this time of the year, over 3000 meals a week are provided alone at the Bourke Street Project base.? We were also relieved that 100% of our donations is directly transferred to the ongoing care and support projects.? Good can take countless forms, but the aim remains the same — to inspire people to not only believe in good for themselves and work towards that, but also come together and create change that is good for all. After all, that’s what the Salvos do each day. During our workshops throughout the day, we walked through the inner-city of Melbourne and listened to the real stories of community building and healthy positive changes through the work of over 6000 Salvo Soldiers across Australia.? Every day and night, the Bourke Street Project Home is open for all members of the community to visit and create a home. It is so important to consider our own experiences of belonging and the importance of community at this time of the year.? Reason #1,930 why I love The Lemonade Circle ???? Every so often, I am blessed with the opportunity to capture moments that transcend beyond just images, and this recent experience was exactly that. I had the honor of photographing the 'Volunteer With Fresh' event hosted by The Lemonade Circle, in partnership with A Fresh Foundation. As a photographer, I’m often behind the scenes, but on days like this, I’m reminded of the bigger picture. It’s not just about the photographs; it’s about capturing the spirit of a community that stands strong together, supporting one another, especially in difficult times. This day wasn’t just about serving food—it was about building community, offering compassion, and reminding everyone that we’re in this together. Through every lens, I saw something truly powerful—people coming together not just as volunteers, but as neighbors, as friends, as a family. Hands were extended not just to provide meals, but to offer dignity, hope, and a shared sense of belonging. It was a moving reminder that no matter who we are or where we come from, we all have a role to play in lifting one another up. We need more of this. More love. More giving. More heart. In a time where the world can feel divided, these acts of kindness and unity show us what’s possible when we come together for a common purpose. It wasn’t just about meeting a physical need, but about feeding the heart and soul—bringing light, love, and human connection to those who need it most. And I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who came out and played a part in making this day possible.
