The European Environment Agency supports a shift towards more plant-based foods to help address climate change. It's claimed that removing animals from the food chain would: reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 68% - with methane reductions of 93%; halve fresh water use; and free up enough farmland to produce surplus plant crops for sustainable human consumption. Any move individuals can make to reduce meat consumption is a positive step forwards: better for you, better for the planet.
