In today's world, visual stimuli such as traffic signs, billboards, and urban planning are ubiquitous and have a substantial impact on our surroundings. However, the impact of Street Art on culture is a topic that is often overlooked. https://lnkd.in/gbDwECyK.

In December 2023, I was invited by Courtney Christensen from Kansas City Public Library to give a keynote to open their 150th anniversary celebrations. In January I learned that ART IN THE LOOP FOUNDATION, the public art program for #KansasCity run by Downtown Council of Kansas City, had been so inspired by the talk that they had chosen #convivencia as the theme for their public art summer with KC STREETCAR AUTHORITY. This is the impact that I hoped to see from my research. In my latest newsletter, Ann Holliday and Edwing Mendez talk about how the capability of #coexistence transformed into more than 20 performances and installations. I find this story of Kansas City so inspiring. The big takeaways from it are: 1. There is no greater tool for communicating values than #publicart. 2. Public authorities have power and should use their power on how public spaces are used as a platform for the arts. 3. The biggest investments in the arts are not done by growing the cultural budget but incorporating the arts into public infrastructure. 4. Even when working on serious subjects, like downturn revitalization, do not forget play and wonder. Read the entire article here: https://lnkd.in/e6P3Y-wc

The Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor on this day in 1885. A gift from the people of France to the US. This monumental gesture symbolizes more than just friendship; it embodies the power of collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and the unyielding spirit of #progress. The L&D industry thrives on #collaboration, #knowledgesharing, and #continuousimprovement. Are we fostering #partnerships that #enhance our #learning programs? Are we open to new #perspectives that can drive #innovation? Let's build a future where the exchange of #ideas and collective #growth illuminate our path #forward, much like Lady Liberty lights the way for countless generations.

It was 1'sh a.m., way past my usual 9:00 p.m. bedtime, but last night, sleep just wasn't happening. Have you ever felt that mix of excitement and nerves about what's ahead? That's exactly where I am right now. I always thought I had a good grasp on the historical struggles and sacrifices made for freedom and equality. But today, something shifted. As an emerging developer attending the 'Building Small' conference, I found myself in Savannah, Georgia, merely a visitor, touring areas steeped in history, where the legacy of slavery is deeply ingrained. At one point, we stopped at the MLK Memorial in Martin Luther King Park, and it was like nothing I've experienced before. It was as if I could feel the presence of the ancestors, a connection that was almost overwhelming. Their unspoken messages of encouragement and perseverance seemed to fill the air, making me feel like they were saying, "We've been waiting for you." This visit wasn't about my projects or involvement; it was about understanding and respecting the profound legacy of the area. It's given me a deeper perspective on the responsibility we have as developers, not just to build, but to honor and contribute to these communities in meaningful ways. It's a heavy yet inspiring realization that adds a whole new layer to my professional journey. #agentkee #development #sellingsacramento #BuildingSmallConference #SavannahHistoricalTour #MLKMemorialVisit #DeveloperJourney #HistoricalLegacy #CommunityDevelopment #AncestorsWisdom #RespectingHistory #UrbanDevelopmentInsights #ReflectionsOnHeritage

Defending Local Identity: A Stand Against External Architectural Influence "It grieves me to think that we require an American justice system in Wimbledon." This response to the proposal for a Frank Gehry-designed concert hall underscores the discontent some feel about an extraordinary foreign architect imposing his vision on a place we call home. While Gehry's vision for a state-of-the-art music center promises to transform Wimbledon and enrich London's cultural life, it is seen by many as an affront to our collective security and the greater good. The idea that an outsider, however talented, can dictate the architectural landscape of our community is troubling. This project, far from being a unique opportunity, represents a challenge to our local identity and autonomy. Our community deserves development that respects and reflects our values, traditions, and needs, rather than surrendering to external influences that may not align with our collective interests. #LocalIdentity #ArchitecturalIntegrity #Wimbledon #CommunityValues #CulturalAutonomy #PreserveOurHeritage #LocalVoicesMatter #ArchitecturalSovereignty #ProtectOurHome #ResistExternalInfluence

Our Modern world is so beautiful, clean, and perfect that when you walk into it you feel you are in a fairytale world, the point is here do you remember the fairytale ?? Disney World was full of princesses and evil characters, then I came I said everyone can be nice even evil s it's depends on what kind of society we create...sometimes I feel this modern society is like a living room or ceremony and people walk into it they feel comfortable, even if there is carpet in public places.but the urban design I wish for never worked in this way, we can use carpet, we can use the outfit we like, and we act the way we like but in another phase, not in the city in a private phase of the city in a house in a family gathering or events.if we want to fade this discrimination on the big scale of 8 billion people around the world we should think differently, the fairytale world even brought the problem of discrimination in stories?
