Mike Cardus - "Byung Chul-Han critiques the relentless pursuit of self-optimization in his work,?The Burnout Society, highlighting how this drive leads to self-exploitation and burnout (Han, 2015). He argues for a shift from a culture of relentless productivity to one that values contemplative, meaningful engagement. This shift can only occur if organizations foster environments where individuals feel they are part of something larger, with a voice and stake in the community." Let's take a moment to consider the value of our colleagues' work, and how it enables our own. Lack of functional alignment to the purpose, business and brand strategy of an organisation creates so much drag in an organisation. (When it's extreme, it's draining.) In my mind, that dynamic raises two questions: What can we do to better enable the work of our colleagues? And what can they do to better enable our work? Of course, that assumes that everyone is on the same page when it comes to understanding: (a) who is the ideal customer and what are their ultimate goals/ struggles, plus (b) what is the purpose, business and brand strategy of the organisation, and (c) how our business model enables our team to deliver on our brand promise to our ideal customers. And that they understand the business model dynamics in the above context. Even so, the ability to see the purpose-driven work of our team and our colleagues with awe and reverence adds a wonderful dynamic. Vital, even. I am so glad I found the posts of Mike Cardus.
