Exciting day in the lab! Patrick Denard, MD and Brian Werner, MD, spent the day in Thay Q Lee, PhD, MD, lab in Pasadena, CA, exploring methods to reduce the rate of acromial stress fractures in reverse shoulder arthroplasty. Results from this study could help advance surgical techniques for improving patient outcomes and the success rate of rTSA procedures. Outstanding innovation in the field of Exosomes.

I’m thrilled to share that my first-ever paper, and my first as a first author, "Exploring the effects of lateral pressure to the soft tissue of the buttocks during seating to preserve tissue perfusion" has been published in the Journal of Tissue Viability (JTV): https://lnkd.in/e_gUTQuk We investigate the impact of lateral pressure on soft tissue perfusion during seating, aiming to enhance tissue health and prevent pressure ulcers. Innovative Approach: We introduce a lateral pressure device that applies pressure to the sides of the seated buttocks to reduce tissue distortion and blood-vessel occlusion. Key Findings: Our study shows that applying 50% lateral pressure improves gas tensions at the ischial tuberosity without negatively impacting the tissue at the greater trochanter. Practical Applications: The results support the use of lateral pressure as a method to maintain transcutaneous gas tensions, providing valuable insights for designing seating solutions that better preserve tissue perfusion.
